Re: Chain lube?
i use the dry type lube. (insert smutty comment here)
i use the Wurth stuff and would recommend it to anyone.
it's a bit more than some of the wet type ones but easier and cleaner to use i find.
should cost about £7 for a big tin
ps. you need to clean the chain first to get the best results and chain cleaner will be about £5

Re: Chain lube?
I'm using Blue PJ1 lube at the mo but can be bit gooey and flingy, supposed to be non fling but think thats a myth. Best to do a chain lube after a ride as the links are warm and the lube penetrates better therefore reducing fling? Again thats the theory but I may be put right by more knowledgable peeps than myself
.
Probably gonna try Wurth Dry again when my stuff runs out as quite a few people have recomended it on other sites.

Buy a Scottoiler

So true. One bottle of oil lasts both me and Kelly over a year, instead of a loads of cans of loob. Plus the chain life more than doubles.TLS-Moose wrote:Buy a Scottoiler

Re: Chain lube?
I'm tempted by a Scottoiler but my moto is, if it aint broken dont fix it, and I found it quite theaputic doing my chain today, specally seeing and feeling the result
I may on a more sunny day (and when I get a morgate to get all the products) do that uber clean that I seen that AutoGlym guy do, amazing results, but get the beast through MOT first...

Re: Chain lube?
PJ1 Blue (not Black as it's different).
Unlike Badger, I find it doesn't fling & I've used just this on my road bikes for years. It goes on very runny so only needs a little amount at a time (perhaps that's where you're going wrong Badger - too much Lube
).
Links always look oily & the o-rings always look wet unlike some dry chain lubes which seem to stick & collect crude.

Re: Chain lube?
but you two never ride your bikes, you are getting the same fuel economy as kim now, so no wonder it lasts so longDynaMight wrote:So true. PJ1 blue for me too, badger, you have to make sure the chain is chemically clean first and dry. the PJ1 won't stick to lube thats already there. i have used it for a few years now and don't get any flick.

Re: Chain lube?
Castrol chain lube racing (formally chain wax) £5.99 or PJ1.
But leave it overnight, otherwise they fling off if you ride it after spraying.

Re: Chain lube?
Wurth high performance dry lube is the best for summer, applied to a hot chain is sinks in quickly and penetrates well, and doesn't fling and mess up my white Marchesinis. Winter riding I use PJ1 lube, avoid chain wax at all costs it doesn't penetrate and attracts all the road grime and turns into a grinding paste which fooks yer sprockets and chain up rather quickly.
