Bristol Italian AutoMoto Festival 2017

Post by Riviera Guy »

Saturday 22nd April saw the 13th Bristol Italian AutoMoto Festival centred around the historic city centre areas of Corn St and the St Nicholas market. The anniversaries of two of the most iconic Italian marques were celebrated this year - Ferrari and Lambretta will achieve their 70th anniversaries in 2017. Ferdinardo Innocenti started production of Lambretta scooters in 1947 in response to the need for simple, robust and affordable private transport immediately following WW11. Design requirements were that it had to be easy to drive for both men and women, be able to carry a passenger and keep the rider clean. The first design incorporated all these requirements competing on cost and with improved weather protection against the motorcycle. As always, the event was superbly organised with a large number of bikes and cars on display. The biggest turn out being by Ducati owners...but there were also plenty of bikes on display from MV Agusta, Cagiva, Aprilia, and scooters from Lambretta.
