Re: feb 2016 news
150ft of elevation changes equates to 45.7 metres in real money - excellent.... That's similar to Mugello that has an elevation delta of about 42m and is the most excellent circuit that I've ever ridden, beautiful setting too in the Tuscan hills. While wholeheartedly applauding the efforts to get this built, and I hope they succeed, my only concern is the location, or more accurately the topography.
Hands up who can remember Geography lessons from school? Specifically the bit where the teacher described warm moist air blowing in from the sea, over the land until it reaches the hills, whereupon it's forced upwards and cools - and what happens next? Yup, if you ever do a trackday there, don't leave your wets at home, it could be wetter than Portimao... I've visited a company that must be located right beside where the circuit gates will be, and got out of the car actually in the clouds...
I hope the MotoGP circus appreciate the place after the barren prairie of Silverstone that's always cold and frequently wet. The CoW might be warmer...
Hats off to the folk of the Valleys, I guess that they recognise only too well the need for some regeneration and employment influx following the closing of the pits. It would have been nice to have had a new MotoGP-standard circuit built in southern England, but can you imagine the armies of NIMBY Middle Englanders up in arms to protest against it?
Has anyone actually seen a genuine plan of the track layout yet? I'd like to see whether it will be another featureless Tilka-drome with long straights and hairpins for the narcolepsy-inducing boredom of F1 or will it have sweeping curves for flowing and exciting racing?
