Where can I ride my track bike for 'testing'?

Post by R6 STU »

I want to give my track bike a bit of a thrash before my first track day but I don't know where I can which is a, off road and b, won't get me into a whole load of shit.

Is Smeatharpe still accessible?

Does anyone know where I can give it a quick 20 minute blast. PM's are helpful if no one wants to reveal their secret location lol

then pick a safe track - bedford/llandow/mallory - put yourself in novice and go for a shakedown/test day, 4 of us have done a testing day at bedford, in novice with that entirely in mind. a mixture of new to ride bikes, rehab, new setup testing and a safe riding environment - not a hooning look at me day.

other than that i guess you could be S.O.L

I'm looking just to literally turn the wheels on it and make sure they go round.

What bike is it??

Or if your naughty
Ask someone with the same bike to borrow there plate and just run it up and down the road, at least then it would flag up as mot taxed and insured.

If you literally want a quick test - Henstridge Airfield season of bike nights are about to start. 4th Wednesday of each month April - August.
First night is next week (27th). You pay £2 and get to blast down the runway as many times as you like until closing. Starts 6pm until approximately 9pm
It is obviously only a small straight but may suit your needs.

Ooooh. This sounds about right. It's 90 minutes away from me but yes. Chance to try the bike out.

They do the drag and drift days at smeatharpe but it's £10 entry and £20 to drag. And it's on the weekends when I work

It really is only if you want to give a minor test to your bike. The runway is not exactly flat ( contrary to belief) and is only 750m long - although quite a few have extended there run onto the grass area :))
It is well organised considering it is a free event ( bar the £2 if you want to do the runway). They get around 1000 bikes there on each meet.
You can find more info on their FB pages, the main one being 'Henstridge Airfield Bikers Blast'

I've just joined their facebook group and will be taking her up on a trailer. Like I said it's just to give it a run, make sure it's all ok and test the quickshifter I put on it over the winter. With Brands coming up in a few weeks I don't want any nasty surprises.

Didn't realise it was so big either, with 450 already confirmed going. Hope I don't look like a knob with the trailer though. Quite excited. And by the look of it a free stunt show which I'm always happy for.

There are normally a couple of trailers but there are more vans with the non-road bikes in.
As well as a couple of decent stunters there is a kid on a drag bike.
What is your track bike? I will keep an eye out for you.

You could try Middlezoy airfield as I saw they have a "drifting" club starting there opposite side of the road to the moto cross track.
