As the title says ...... after a conversation this afternoon I found this - so I'd suggest that if you want to experience riding the Donnington circuit, make it this year because the place may not exist by the end of the year after Bernie's taken them to the cleaners

donington will be staying as it is moose for the bikes whether f1 goes there or not !! theres too much of a insurance risk for donington to allow us mere mortals loose on a 200mph back straight into a 30mph hairpin. the new circuit will only be used for f1 and motop and not bsb or wsbk as far as it stands.

a lot of the funding is already in place with the new norton factory being there,permission for hotels and restaurants. theres a strong rumour of a wetherspoons and a mcdonalds on the outside of the circuit to gain money all year round

They are talking about limiting them to 40 race (full noise) days per year, and remember most of the bike car & bike events are at least 3 days each incl. practice, and that'll be spread between cars and bikes, and no doubt they'll want to see more cars there to justify the cost of the new bits, and no doubt it'll mean even tighter control on track-days ...

The key issue is, if they don't get the funding to meet Bernie's requirements, they will more than likely be bankrupted, which could mean closure anyway ..... because lets face it, in that location selling it as a race circuit will not realise maximum value for a reciever

They can't have too many full noise trackdays there can they? The residents of Castle Donington would probably complain if there was some background noise spoiling their aural enjoyment of passenger and freight jets taking off round the clock... fukcers
The proposed new track layout does offer plenty of options for different circuits and I'm not fussed about having a 200mph straight - so what? Give me the twisties any day - if you want to max out your bike, take it to the M45 near Coventry; next to no traffic, only one junction on it and in many years of using it I never saw the old bill on there once, and there's a long downhill straight of about a kilometre to play on should you wish to...

moose,they dont have that many noisy days now as i well know with the old sp1 . the noise testing up there is strict as it,the system cost over £500,000 and is connected directly to a noise unit at nottignhamshire council who can close the circuit down within 10 mins of the limit being triggered hence why theyre so strict

40 noisy days equates to 20 weekends of racing so probably 18 weekends if you say theres 3 days for wsbk/bsb and motogp. the concerts dont come into it as they have them on the launch pad which is in leicestershire council and doesnt have nowhere near as strict a noise controls as nottinghamshire. 18 weekends of noisy race days is probably about right for the amount of race events they have there as its usually a big meeting every fortnight once the season starts. they will probably play the system though on a motogp/wsbk weekend and pay the fines for excessive noise weekends leaving a few days free for us mere mortals to enjoy. this is what the airport do when the antanov transport plane lands there,its too noisy for the local regs so the airport build the fine into its landing fee

scott as far as im aware the circuit will be staying as it for trackdays and club racing,thats the plans as they stand currently although they may well change once the renovations are completed

will be a shame if motogp goes to silverstone,a lot of top riders have slated the place before so i doubt it would happen
