Pembrey 2009 - Questions and Answers

Post by Alan PBRTD »

Overnight Camping
No Problem - but I need to know. Access for the circuit will be from 5.00pm Thursday until 6.00pm Saturday evening. If you wish to camp over saturday night it's usually Ok unless the circuit has something on - in which case we'll have to be all gone by 5.00pm. Alternative camping arrangements can be made.

I'll get a definative on this closer to the time.

Tesco Run
If you need any provisions over your stay these can be collected and delivered to the circuit. Basiclly I pass Tesco's on the way home....

Evening's alternative ''enterainment''
Phil Bev and a few of the boys stay over as well - there's always a lift to the local pub / chinese / steakhouse / indian if you don't fancy cooking.

Trackday Instructors / Guidence / Riding Advice

For those of you who have not been with us or Pembrey before this is how Phil Bevan Trackdays work.

3 Groups – Novice Intermediate and Advanced

Max number of riders in each group 26 with 2 Instructors

Over the years we’ve tried many idea’s and formats but have settled on this. It works well and benefits everyone.

You will find 8/10 instructors available on the day.

Novice Instructors – Rob and Maureen
Intermediate – Mark and Mike
Advanced - the 2 Paul’s

Trackside – Phil Bevan and me.

If situations arise Phil will go into Advanced / Intermediate and I’ll do Intermediate and Novice.( I ain’t doing Advanced they’re toooo quick for me…)

In case if an emergency we have 2 spare Instructors available.

Each Instructor will only work with their relative group. We do not put Advanced Instructors out with the Novices and vice versa. They are all very experienced motorcyclists and most have racing (on and off road) experience also.

Unlike other trackday companies The Instructors stay out for the whole session – every session. They can keep a close eye on everyone’s riding – and make sure no ones riding beyond / getting close to - their ability. (How can they tell? Experience.)

Put it like this – with 8 Pembrey trackside marshals / one in the control tower / 2 instructors per group and two additional paddock staff we can usually spot an incident / potential incident before it goes belly up. The Pembrey Trackday Marshall’s are bike marshals – and bikers themselves.

‘One to One’’ instruction is available at no extra cost. This will be both on circuit and in the paddock.
Additional ‘One to One’ with Phil Bevan is available and a charge will be made. If you require further information please contact me.

Novice riders will have a 30 minute classroom session. Topics under discussion are :
The circuit
Cones
Turn in / apex / exit points
Safety
Good Manners
Additional Novice rules

These may vary – depending on the overall ability of the group. We’ve found that our Novice groups tend to be very novice so First Timers / Lady Riders

Deej

Rich still does sometimes. He's a bit busy in the shop to commit to the full season of PBTD's so it makes it difficult but is a very well respected instructor. Trouble is he spends his time between sessions either fixing Ducati's or playing about with suspension mods and settings so doesn't get much time to himself to go out and have a play.

I'm sure we'll see him and Becks over the summer.
