Dilema

Post by steve-d »

Ok heres my situation.
I'm at college 3 days a week, work part time at a supermarket. Earn about 400 quid a month.
My insurance on the R6 is 105 quid a month. By the time I've paid for petrol food at college/work I have no money to enjoy myself with, riding drinking ect.
And I'm scared of riding my r6 incase I drop it since I don't have the money to fix it
My mate let me have a go on his 02 CRF 450 today and he had a go on my R6. I absoloutly loved it, even at quarter throttle front end was trying to lift in the first 3 gears, and he loved my R6.
Been offered a swap plus 300 quid my way.

Insurance is 450 fully comp, cheaper on tyres, fuel, tax.

But I dearly love my R6, and I've put a lot of time and effort into it.

Help me.

It'll cost a few bob to put a set of road wheels and tyres on the CRF (if it doesn't already have them), but it'll make a wicked super-moto (though the engines do have fairly short service and rebuild intervals - remember, it is a full-on competition MX bike, even with the light kit fitted....
You can always get another R6 in a few years when you have a bit more money 8)

WTF is that

It does make scence to swap, I think I've only been out on the r6 about 4 or 5 times in the 3ish months I've had it.
I've also been told at work that I'm not getting full time this summer, so I don't see it getting any better until I finish college and get a job, which will be another year.

I can remember what model it was but it was the road legal version and it had just had a new top end.
Although it doesn't have an ignition at the moment, but It wouldn't take much to put one on. Yea its on knobblys at the moment. But the money I save will pay for the wheels quite quickly.

How about.. U spend ur money on drinking and petrol for enjoyment and then tap mum/dad/granny for food/boring stuff!!! I'm pretty sure that's how my kids are gona try and play it lol
Seriously though if u enjoyed the other bike do the swop! Not much point having a bike u can't ride as much as u'd like too! Get another R6 when uv got the money coming in to enjoy it 8)

Havw you checked the cancellation rates with your insurance company? it's not just a case of stopping the current payment .......

The CRF will require quite a bit of upkeep like Scotty says, which will probably offset a fair bit of the "savings" .....

At the end of the day, only you can decide what you fancy ....... but that £300 will go a long way to road wheels/tyres, and the bike will be a hoot on twisty roads 8)
Of all the things I have ever lost, I miss my mind the most .....
