Chrome frame

Post by NorthIrish »

Anyone know where I could get a frame chromed in Bristol? There's a SRAD GSXR parks outside my work with a chrome frame and it looks sweet. I'd ask the owner where he got it done but he's must be on nights because the bike is there when I arrive and gone by the time I get into the lab

Probably polished being an srad. Griffs reality motor works in bristol should sort you out if you have an alloy frame that you want polishing.

It could be polished, but I have an old GPZ with a steel frame I'd like to give a new lease of life to. I was going to just get it powdercoated black along with the engine, but shiny is, well.... shiny :D

Rather than chrome, go "old-skool" with nickel plating 8) Looks much nicer than chrome too

The old Rickman-Kawasaki CR's were always nickel plated ....

And some of the Hillclimb bikes.

(Thought they’d have cut off the end of the crank on the Rickman, rather than leaving Madonna’s bra

Get the frame Nickel plated rather than Chromed, with chroming you can sometimes suffer from material embrittlement due to the acid processes. Nickel plating doesn't suffer from hydrogen embrittlement like chrome does. Personally I'd get Griffs to powdercoat it rather than plating, Griffs do all my powdercoating on my own bikes and my customers stuff, they are very good at it unlike some places that are cheaper, budget for around £120 for a complete frame.

Thanks for all the replies guys. I've found a pic of what I'd like to do and am now thinking the nickle finish fits better.
