Portimao 2024 - Interested In Hiring Bikes

Post by menzies3032 »

Hey All

As you will see from this post here http://www.southwestbikers.com/viewtopic.php?t=101784 there are quite a few of us who are really interested in going back to Portimao in 2024. As most of you know I hire a bike from Small Boys Track Hire Bikes. (see the web site here https://www.smallboytrackbikes.co.uk/euro-events.php) I have recently spoken to Matt the owner and he is willing to fully support the event as long as we have 4 bikes full confirmed and paid for.

When we get to 2024 and the dates in October are released by No Limits then He would be looking for £150 deposit and then full payment 3 days before the bikes are loaded onto the stillages.

What would this include
As part of the full service this means Matt would:-
  • Take the bikes to the pick up point and load them to the stillage
  • Supply you with the model bike you pay for
  • Bikes will be ready to ride with all servicing complete
  • Will take the bike off you after a session and put them on tyre warmers and will take off of tyre warmers and give the bike back to you on your session
  • Will supply all fuel for the bikes
  • Will cover any serviceable items that need changing (eg brakes, tyres etc)
  • If it rains a full swap over to wet tyres and wet bike set up
  • Will cover collection of the bikes back in the UK
Maximum charge if you trash the bike (based on current T&C's in 2023) £1000

Whats not included?
The cost of the track day with No Limits (and yes you dont get any discount from No Limits as Matt has to use your spot on the truck to transport the bikes to Portugal so your still paying full price)

Anything out of Matts control......

If it rains and you don't want to go out that's your issue not his so no discount
If you decide to cancel 7 days before departure... tough your still paying full price
If you trash the bike and the bike you have hired is now unrideable then Matt will try to repair it but no refunds and if he cant repair it tough luck.
If there is an unexpected mechanical issue whilst in Portugal then where possible your be offered one of the other bikes to ride whilst yours is being repaired but you might miss session whilst the issue is being fixed but it will be fixed and resolved.

How much does it cost?
(information as per 2023 published prices check the Small Boys Web site for more details)

I have had to put the sensible hat on and finances for next year have been allocated for the house.
Needs must unfortunately.

I feel ya. my usual 5 or 6 UK track days are down to only 3 in 2023 and the joy of Portimao in 2022 is going to have to wait until 2024 before I will be able to go again. Like you cost of living and funds need to go in a different direction.
