i passed mine first time, i think mainly because i thought i messed up within the first 10 minutes, so that took away all the nerves because i'd assumed i'd failed already. as it turns out though i actually did exactly the right thing and the car driver was at fault, so didn't even get a minor for it, i ended up with 5 minors i think

My second test was easy, the Examiner stood in a block and walked down alleyways to come out and watch you at junctions and roundabouts on the circuit so my instructor said that once you get round the corner give it some then you get past the alleyway before he gets there and he has to run back to the next one, i never saw him the whole two circuits until he appeared puffing and panting near the end ready for me to do my emergency stop :) :)

Add another to the list. I also failed for using my mirrors too much and slowing down too rapidly for a 30 zone. Don't worry Tom your still only young and you will have plenty of time to pass your test and get out there on a big bike.

No nerves on my test in 1979... was great fun... :P

Mind you part of it included riding over a VW Beetle, cross country riding over a training (dartmoor like) area, through a large muddy pit of rain water and going as fast as poss from checkpoint to check point... oh, and the usual stuff on the roads too... 8)

In actual fact Deej i had called alex on a recommendation, booked it all in then alex rearranged it so he'd do my training in St Austell not Bodmin, little did i know but on first day of training i'm faced with someone by the name of Gren not Alex, alex was in Bodmin with a different group.
Now not being one to make a scene i went along with it and i was trained by Gren, and no fault to gren i failed due to my own faults, after a morning of training with Gren i had passed!

I did let Alex know my feelings and for which he was very apolagetic.

Suprised it wasn't an army style "see that Hill? go up it" one.

that sounds about right, his organziation isnt great but the training usually is, the good thing is that his pass rate is so much higher than the others and if someone does fail once its usually something trivial thats easily fixed next time out
