OK, for their faint-hearted here’s a trigger warning: post contains pictures of helmets…

I got my new helmet a week and a bit back, but have been quite busy.

Here’s what you get with a new Shoei helmet:

A lot of stuff:

service tool
Silicon oil
Pin lock EVO insert
Instruction book
Chin curtain
Breath guard
2x stickers
A pair of replacement pin lock pins
Another user manual

Also handy: the old and new main visors are cross compatible between the helmets - according to the guys at Helmet City.

And here are the side-by-side comparisons (old/new - left/right): Entry view

Retaining system changed from double D-ring to ratchet clip, some forward/rearward extension of the shell, areas to add on an intercom (Senna).

A lot of venting changes - should be cooler to wear, but slighty more noisy (I use earplugs anyway)

Note that the sun visor covers a greater area, and comes down a bit lower in the field of view. I’m a big fan of the inbuilt sun visor.

The new helmet shell is a bit slimmer from side to side. The helmets weigh just about the same.

Cheers, Bob

Very very similar in style and design.
Looks fantastic through. If i recognise from the under side do i also see it has the quick release for the inside padding?
Also the sun visor drop downs are a god send. I have them on my x-lite and work so well

Yeah, the red tapes on the sides at approximately the cheek area release the front/face pads so that the helmet would be easier/safer to remove in event of an accident. I have to say that I haven’t tried an X-Lite, but only because I definitely have a Shoei-shaped head.
