Mass Rideouts

How sad ?

Don't get me wrong.

I'm not referring to a small group of friends out for a spin.

I'm talking about the phenomena of the MASS RIDEOUT.

I was out this afternoon and decided to pop into Totnes for a bite.

As I approached the centre I got in quite a long queue and after I filtered to the front, on a green light, there was a bloke on a Harley stopped right across the junction with his hand held up, stopping the traffic while dozens of other (mainly), Harleys went across.

Two things here.

Who the hell do these people think they are inconveniencing others, and causing tail backs and secondly, they must have all been just sailing through a red light across the junction, as the lights I was being held up on, were green.

It's why I don't like these mass ride outs.
They are often such a bloody nuisance to other road users, that it becomes embarassing to be part of them.

Bikings about enjoying the open road, unhindered by the clutter of everyday life, not travelling like a herd of mindless bloody cattle.
:x

Hahaha! Don't suppose there's much point inviting you to come along to one of the 'friendly rides' then, is there?!

surely the 'mass rideouts' are a social thing, that is probably why you don't understand them. it's about people having fun together enjoying a hobby together. being friendly.

an unsociable individual with a god complex towards biking would not enjoy that knd of event as it would be beneath them to interact with mere mortals.

So, you have no intention of participating in what is, after all, one of the primary purposes of the site - the ability to meet up with, and ride alongside, likeminded people. Equally you do not seem keen to enter into the social side of the site either ...... which begs the question why on earth you hang around

Anyone who thinks that dressing a monkey up as a clown, wrapping a chain around it's neck and putting it in such an undignified situation, is sick.

I can understand someone like Blue finding it funny because he's not the sharpest tool in the box, but an intelligent individual should be appauled by that :(

A social thing is a group of mates, out for a spin, and just enjoying their bikes.

A mass rideout of hundreds of bikes is just exhibiting the herding mentality, which we should have evolved out of by now

You see, there you go again, putting your own interpretation on my posts.

Can you read.

Where did I say there was a problem with groups riding together.

Are you saying that with the SW rides, dozens of bike turn up :?

Thats exactly what we are saying, the last ride had around 52 bikes and as we left the car park Bambam pulled out and stopped the traffic so we all left together, exactly the situation you just described you great steaming lump of knobcheese, it keeps us all together and the people in thecars that were held up were smiling when i went past at the spectacle of it all....................
