I've just got some nice oil and filter for my lil beast... Only thing is, I havent a scooby doo where the filter and drain plug are
I know I'll have to take some fairing off but I had a peek and couldnt see anything that resembled a filter and it's very different to my NC30.
My bike is an E reg 1989 K model GSX-R 400
Aplogies for being so dim, but cars have been more my thing till now.
Anybody shed some light thankyou please yes no oh orite then?
All the breast
Dylan

drain plug will usually be on the bottom of the bike, filter should be close by,ive never owned a gsxr 400 but im sure it shouldnt be too hard to find once youve got the belly pan off

You should find the filter on the front of the motor behind the pipes, the drain plug is underneath the motor on the sump plate., you will need to remove the fairing lowers, and with a filter strap wrench you should be able to remove th filter without having to drop the pipes. Remember that when you fit the new filter smear a bit of clean oil on the O ring on the filter and screw it on by hand nice and tight, the filter should spin on easily, if not stop and check you haven't cross threaded it.

Oil filter should be at the front as Jam said, thats where my Bandit400 one was and is in the same place on my GSX-R750W. Otherwise put Carl Salter into google and he's got free manual downloads so you can get one for your model.

is the filter a spin on can or element type?
my gsxr400 is the element kind, you will find the cover for it on the front of the engine, round finned plate with 3 or 4 bolts around the outside, viewed from the front its to the right and below a sensor with rubber boot over it, think its the oil pressure one.

Cant see it in the picture but you're describing what sounds like my old Bandit 400 filter and cap, so think thats where you should be looking Dylan.
