Should have gone to Spec Savers!
No I thought about it, goggled it, and found a few of horror stories. I get on well with contact lenses. I can wear them all day every day, never had an infection, never uncomfortable so I decided not to risk it. It seems they record an operation as a success even if you still have to wear glasses but with a less powerful prescription afterwards. There are many cases were people have 20-20 vision after the operation but then their eyes regress after a year or 2. If I had to wear glasses every day I might be prepared to risk it. Apparently you are more prone to star bursts (look at a bright light and when you look away you can still see it) which has meant that some people can no longer drive at night because of the headlights of oncoming traffic, but because they need little or no correction from glasses the Lazer surgery company still record it as a successful operation.

I intend having it done soon... better than being blind like now...
Talking to a guy that had it done 10 years ago, he said he was as blind as me and his eyes were almost perfect after the procedure and haven't deteriorated at all...

Re: laser eye correction any had it?
I've had 3 people at my place of work have it done in the last 2 years and they can't say enough good things about it ! None of them now require glasses/contacts and one member of staff now no longer gets headaches from using the computer.
Re: laser eye correction any had it?
Thanks guys i think i will be haveing it done in the near future,i dont have too bad eye sight but wear glasses all the time and can no longer wear contact lens after wearing then for 10 years so it seems the only option left or stick with glasses
thanks

Re: laser eye correction any had it?
Both me and Miler have had it done and to be honest it was the best thing we have ever done, we had our eyes corrected about 3 years ago and we still have 20/20 vision, it's well worth doing for the 40 seconds per eye it takes to laser..
A work colleague still has great eyesight after 6 years.
We went with Optical express and at first we had the free consultation, I should have some vouchers coming soon which will give you about £150 off treatment if you decide to go ahead

Re: laser eye correction any had it?
I had it done in 2004 and it was the best thing I've ever done in my life. A bit uncomfortable straight afterwards but went to bed like instructed and the next day when I got up I had 20/20 vision. This was after having glasses and contact lens since I was about 12.
I haven't needed anything since then and infact haven't even been back to the opticians for any check ups for the last 4 years as I don't see the need for them.
If there was a down side, I do get migraines brought on by eye strain but I can usually tell when I'm over doing it and try not to use the laptop or watch TV that day cos thats what brings it on.
I say go for it. Like any procedure there are risks and people are very quick to tell you the scare stories, however you do always get to hear about the times it has improved someones life.
I'm used to it now but I remember those first few months of just being able to get up in the morning and reading the alarm clock without having to reach for any glasses. Also when swimming, not having to squint all the time incase I bumped into anyone lol

Paying for my girlfriend to have hers done.. her eyes are so bad.. she has to wait for a couple years, being 21 she isnt old enough yet for the treatment she requires. Give us time to save up the £4k per eye!

Re: laser eye correction any had it?
Wife had hers done about eight years ago, no issues and got 20-2o back from a fairly high prescription.
Now age has taken it's toll and she's back to wearing low prescription glasses for tv etc

Re: laser eye correction any had it?
I was considering having this done until a friend of mine who was working in the Bristol Eye Hospital at the time spoke to one of the doctors there on my behalf.
One of them pointed out that the process involves cutting away healthy tissue that many people rely on in later life.
I'll stick with contacts thanks
