Thought heating oil was basically diesel?

It seems that kerosene in the US is what we call paraffin.

Here, however, kerosene refers to aviation fuel and is NOT the same as paraffin.

Afaik Kerosene /heating oil is basically paraffin , it is reffered to as 28 second burning oil , and paraffin was a slightly cleaner burning version for indoor portable heaters etc , Kerosene is also aviation fuel for jet engines , i have a mate that used to be in the business , the 28 second bit is the time it tke 50 ml to run through a small test hole , where as diesel and Gasoil (red diesel ) is thicker and takes 35 sconds to run through the same hole , if you only want the stuff for cleaning oil off things or for a parts cleaner go to a garage that sells red diesel or if you know a freindly farmer see if he will sell ya a drop , it will be cheaper than a garage for sure ,
