End2End And Back. June30th 2007 - 8th July 2007
As you are aware The Phoenix Bike Club in North Devon have been organising a Lands End to John O'Groats and back to Lands End charity run next year, for the past three months. Speedy was coming but has now withdrawn and decided to do an alternative charity event instead. Good luck to him and his fellow riders from us all at the Phoenix. Let me just tell you what our run is about. Seven of us will be competing in the ride to raise money for The North Devon Hospice, Testicular cancer and Riders For Health (charity supported by WSB, BSB, MOTO GP and World Superside teams). The reasons for choosing these charities were. 1. Several of us in North Devon have had friends & relatives who unfortunately have had to use the facilities of the hospice during their final days with us and have been expertly cared by the staff there. 2. Testicular cancer is an illness that affects many men under the age of 30 and appears to have put in the shadows by other cancers. 3. If Riders for Health is a worthy charity to be supported by all the superbike teams, then it's worthy enough for us all too. We will be leaving North Devon on the 30th of June 2007 and finishing at Lands End on Sunday 8th July 2007. We shall be travelling up through the west coast of Scotland, visiting the Isle of Skye on our way to John O'Groats and return via the east coast of Scotland. It is our intention to raise money by asking people to guess the mileage of all the bikes involved and make a donation to the charity fund. We already have various prizes and are hoping for a weeks accomodation in Spain for whoever guesses the nearest. We already have corporate sponsorship to cover the trip. Whatever is left over from this at the end of the run will be pooled into the charity fund. We have bank accounts sorted for both corporate sponsorship and charity monies. MORE DETAILS TO FOLLOW. Your support will be very much appreciated...
