hi have you tested the batt when trying to start it to see how much power is draining from the batt

Battery, Kellys 636 did exactly the same when the battery was flat, buzz from the starter. Get it on a optimate, with that we found that the battery wasnt holding it's charge, fitted 'new' battery and it's been fine.

I'd say battery too, I have an optimate if you want to borrow it.

My bike is currently at SP because it won't start!

you will find 12volts will not be enough as zx10 says the voltage will drop as you start the bike

hi guys just been out to try it after sitting on the optimate all night. battery reads 12.9v pushed the button and just buzzing again. drops voltage down to 7v but climbs back up to 11.9v and charging straight away. does this still mean i could be the battery.
Cheers

Battery could be 12v and look like it is fine but you will also need to check the ampage, if that is down then that would cause problems.

When you get the bike running you should see above 13.5v on the battery, if it is any less than that then you have a charging issue.

P.S. I am now an expert on motorcycle alternators.
