....and bought a bike!!!

I introduced myself on here a few days ago - thanks for the warm welcome!

Doing my lessons through OYB at the mo - test on Friday - I swore I would never do it but I have....was riding along today with Alex, my instructor - and there she was, gleaming by the roadside. A 2004 SV650S in silver. Had a look, a small scratch on th fairing, apart from that, great nick - they guy is emigrating to Hong Kong next month and needs to get rid, he has had it from new - made him an offer on the spot (eeek!) and spoke to him just now and we have a deal!!!

All I have to do is pass now!!!!!

All bring well, I pick it up on the weekend.

Fingers crossed!!!

I recon the little SV is the best first bike.

they can be pushed along at an amazing pace once you get the confidence and ability.

I had mine for 4 years, it wasn't my first bike but I never got bored of it the way that my mates got bored of their 600's and I always enjoyed hastling bigger bikes on it.

I'm sure you haven't made a mistake buying it.

Thanks everyone...I know I've done my research, knew what to look for, but I always come away with a feeling that I shouldn't have done that...

Mind you, I usually get that feeling on any purchase over £10!!!

Just as a question, what do you reckon it is worth as a private sale?

He is also throwing in a paddock stand, Dianese back protector, Clymer manual and a few tools he bought speciffically to service the bike. He is an engineer by trade (RAF), and has done all the servicing himself (and has receipts to prove).

Depending on the miles and state of the bike i'd probably say around 2500 to just over 3 grand.

The SV has a reputation for a good start bike, it's one you can do a lot with too just ask SVRAsh!

Yeah, hopefully when I pass on Friday (fingers crossed), I'd like to come out on some meets - would be especially good as we have moved to Cornwall from Sheffield, so not many mates down here

Gotta go drop the deposit for the SV today...

As the first big bike I will always get an SV650s I have had mine for what 2 odd months and I love it to bits, I have ride it on a "private" road and my god !

just put my second mark on it last week a D B Screen and it looks the daddy now, can't wait till the end of next month as its my test

Good luck with the test. I did my test with alex and they did a great job, really enjoyed the whole course. Even after flying over the handlebars of the bike on day one! Much to the amusement of everyone else!
As for the bike, never trust an RAF technician, it'll be broken in a week!

Cheers Croddman - good luck with your test too - can't wait to get hold of mine - all being well (i.e. passing my test!) I'll pick her up on Saturday - weather looks good all weekend too!

hksooie1 - I know what you mean about the RAF - I work with the MoD (not for!!) and I hope the budget cuts dont extend to my prospective new bike!!

The front brake on those CCM's are a bit sharp aren't they? - I take it thats how you went A over T?

billy, went over handlebars after pulling wheelie(not intentionally! lol)front came back down too sharp and off I went. Taught me a valuable lesson!
Are you with MOD at st mawgan, if so, will keep an eye out for you on base. If you see a red and white NC30 or ducati 748, thats me.

Noooooo...don't work for the MoD!! - Work for a company called BREY - I look after a number of bases in the South West, and St Mawgan is one of mine...lovely part of the country over there

You based as the base then? Whaddya do?
