Dont do anything to hasty!

You have a clean liscence, you will not get a disqualification!! Scare tactics!!

I know that date will hang over you, I know its not fair to say 'dont worry about it', but seriously, you have nothing to worry about. You are unlikely to get a disqualification for speeding unless doing double the speed limit or over 100mph. You were doing neither.

gotta go to court

Post by SlowR1der »

mate listen to some of the other replies don't worry yourself to much. At the end of the day you were only 3 mph over what would have been 3 points and a £60 fine, because you were not dealt with on the street they have to summons you to court and they have many options on how to deal with you at court, the disqualification is the most extreme....... even if they were extremely harsh on you and you ere disqualified it would probably be only 7 days (but i can't see that happening !!)

Here is a snippet from the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO)guidelines on speed

The guidance to police officers is that it is anticipated that, other than in the most exceptional circumstances, the issue of fixed penalty notices and summonses is likely to be the minimum appropriate enforcement action as soon as the following speeds have been reached:

Limit
Fixed Penalty
Summons

limit-20 mph
Fixed Penalty Notice- 25 mph
Summons- 35 mph

Limit-30 mph
Fixed Penalty Notice- 35 mph
Summon- 50 mph

Limit-40 mph
Fixed Penalty Notice- 46 mph
Summons- 66 mph

Limit-50 mph
Fixed Panalty Notice- 57 mph
Summons- 76 mph

Limit-60 mph
Fixed Penalty Notice- 68 mph
Summons- 86 mph

Limit-70 mph
Fixed Penalty Notice- 79 mph
Summons- 96 mph

Fixed penalty of

1. 60 (pending)

2. Licence endorsed with 3 penalty points

Summons
Magisterial discretion (level 2) maximum of:

1. 1000 fine

2. Licence endorsed - range of penalty points available

3. Disqualification

4. Compulsory re-testing

This guidance does not and cannot replace the police officer's discretion and they may decide to issue a summons or a fixed penalty notice in respect of offences committed at speeds lower than those set out in the table. Moreover, in particular circumstances, driving at speeds lower than the legal limit may result in prosecution for other offences, for example dangerous driving or driving without due care and attention when the speed is inappropriate and inherently unsafe.

good luck mate, there is no way you would be disqualified in London for that.

:?: :?: :?:

78 in a 50 = 28 mph over

Like everone has said, I recon max will be 6 points and a fine.

Ask Les, Age's misses

3 mph less (ie 75mph) and he would have been suitable for £60 fine and 3 points same as he would at the roadside
