to a degree jason you have a point about sales crap but thats in every aspect of anything we buy or sell from bikes to teles to houses etc etc. we all have a brain and its up to us in how we use it and what we beleive in, personally i go for what i see and im not keen on a used kwak/suzuki.
blimeys questions was regarding a new bike which im sure he uses for a daily commute so he'd need to consider long term quality as he'll have to keep it 2 or 3 years until the finance runs out !! compare a 4 year old honda cbr6 to a zx6 and you'll be suprised mate

I've got an 11 year old ZX7R and a 5 year old GSXR1000 and I can't really see that they're built badly.
The 7R's done 46,000 miles and is still holding together and the GSXR's done 21,000 miles. Neither look like they've done the mileage they have.
I think Honda build quality being better than the others is a load of bollocks these days.

there are a million and one older GSXR 750's around used as daily work hacks and they do stand up very well. People wouldnt use them to do this if they were not fit for purpose.
there is a K2 600 down the road from me that has been sat on the street in all weathers uncovered (I can never get my head around why he/she doesnt at least put it under a bike cover) for the last year or so, its obviously used as a work hack as its inevitably shit high, but under the grime lurks a bike that when its jet washed, with the exception of some oxidised nuts and bolts still looks as good as any other bike exposed to this level of neglect.
in terms of build as rab mentioned earlier all the jap manufacturer really are much of a muchness there is certainly no one pouring out sub standard general quality.

My mate has a brand spanker CBR6 RR and has more rust on it than my 3 year old ZX6r and my 14 year old ZXR400 with 50,000 miles on it.
Both of my kwackers look and run fine, well the 400 doesnt anymore as I split it, but my point is, its how you look after your bike as to what lasts.
Its the same in MX, everyone has the theory that KTMs fall apart, they dont if you look after them.
I have never owned a Honda and dont really plan to either

As for the bike. We have decided to put our house move 4 years forward. Great just after a interest rise
But we have found a couple gorgeous bigger houses and have made over a £100,000 profit on ours in 7 years. But still need to borrow loads of money and maybe a bit more for new bike.

When you talk build quality as in corrosion, The R1 and R6 are the best. I've seen T reg R1's with hardly any corrosion, and it had done the miles. You can't always go on make though cos the old style Fazer 600s are amongst the worst.
Kawasaki are beter than Honda generaly and are much better to work on, anything is better to work on then Hondas. Sorry.
Suzukis do corode but on the sports bikes it's generaly brake bangos, so just use some ACF-50 on 'um. And that is my tip for any bike....use ACF-50.
