yes, we were very surprised that it passed.
we unloaded it off the trailer and he came over to us holding a rusted through clamp and the other one had gone, we got a couple of jubilee clips to try but they didn't really do anything.
as time was getting tight for the briefing etc we sent him up for testing even though it was making a hell of a racket, we were stunned that it didn;t just pass but was under the limit.
WARNING to those with even STANDARD cans at CASTLECOOMBE

"whats legal for the road has nothing to do with it, its fortunate that the massive majority of standard bikes are withing the limit but dont forget that its only a handfull of bikes that fail, namely
Suzuki GSXR600 – 2006 model
GSXR 750 K6 & K7
GSXR1000 K6 – 2006 model with standard exhaust
Yamaha R6 – 2006 model
anything else should be fine. "
hmmmm thats a tiny bit annoying my bike is on that list
Just got an invite to a rizla suzuki track day at castle coombe in a couple weeks time for a free day out as a guest of the sponsor (nice to have a job with decent perks).
Not being able to take my own bike due to noise limits doesnt bother me that much as I will have access to K7 gsxrs anyway, but then surely if they are strict then it would be pointless Rizla Suzuki holding a trackday there as standard K7 gsxrs are on that list anyway.......

you'd be surprised what will pass.
there was an R6 there that had obviously passed even though they say they have had problems in the past,
to name a few other bikes t hat were running the other day - a few KTM660 SMC's running with Akra's with the baffles out, and they were under the limit, A moto morini 3.5, when it was running it wasn't quiet at all.
so the overall impression i got was your bike doesn't have to be whisper quiet to get through

yes it does seem a bit weird!
I think Im am gonna take my own bike anyway and see if it gets through...
k6 gsxr 1000 - I will obviously put the standard can back on as from reading through this lot whilst there might be a chance I can get away with my bike on standard it sounds like the chances of it getting on track wearing an Akrapovic Evo 2 are about zero.
Ill let you know if it gets past the noise limits or not.

well seeing as I was at castle combe with a fleet of K7 and K6's yesterday I should now be able to grace you with the answer of whether a stock gixxer can get past the noise limit...
Or or I would be able to if it wasnt shitting it down relentlessly to the point where there was so much surface water there was no point even starting a bike up....let alone bringing your own along
Only cars allowed out and it was even hard work in a car.
..although I now have the dubious distinction of hitting a pit wall, when the ariel atom aquaplaned on some water on the start/finish line straight which spun it straight into the pit wall, never thought you could lose the front end of a car in a straight line!. Scared the life out of me as I thought it was going to flip itself over when it hit the wall. Thankfully it just came to a very abrupt halt on impact with all the damage being to the front of the car.
This was a good sign to call it a day and retire to the go cart track.
I am at the nurburgring this weekend, if it rains again there I shall cry.
