PC Plod...

Post by Maver-Nick »

I spend a lot of my time at work helping PC Plod and his mates outta sticky situations, stop them getting kickings, detain bad doers and report incidents to them...

How do they repay me... :?

With a £30 ticket for a small number plate...

They admitted they had seen the MCN article about not pulling us, and said they wouldn't of last week and won't next week... But their 'Discretion' had been taken away from them due to this week long campaign against number plates.

I replied 'So has mine now when you tw@ts are getting a kicking'...
Please help...

Not sticking up for them but a £30 fee is quite 'light' apposed to what they can do for small number plates

nope £30 is all they can do. I should know as a life long collector of small plate fines.

There is a rumour that the DVLA can withdraw your number and issue you with a Q plate if you are a constant repeat offender - But I have never heard of anybody falling foul of this, nor know someone who knows someone, who knows someone, whos brothers mate had it happen to them. In short I think the reality is that it never happens.

The last one I had was towards the end of last year riding with arron24 (I blame his ear shattering slashcut for us getting pulled in the first place :) ) - it was a Motorcycle cop, always the most tragic jobsworths - give me a copper in a car anyday.

If you've been pulled quite often for a small plate you may well find that you're personal & bike details have been noted down on a police database & each time you get pulled up for a small number plate this will get flagged up & so they won't be so leanient. I used to have a problem where I would always forget to wash my number plate when cleaning the rest of the bike  to the point where it was, shall we say, difficult to read :) Got pulled a few times & the last time the copper said he was putting my details on the database & the next time I got pulled for that offence I wouldn't be getting a ticking off but a ticket/fine.

its a maximum of a £60 fine and a 3pts offence now but riding with no plate is a £30 fine, better to not buy a small plate and save £15 and take a chance on blagging that it was there when you left home. :D

I think you are wrong. Its still only £30 for an illegall plate and they cant point you for it. There was talk of it being changed but as far as I am aware talk is all it was.

I live in germany where the plice and the driver have a great deal of respect for speed. if your caught speeding there is a fine in respect to the speed over the limit. the police will even follow you to the bank so you can pay the fine.

Autobhans - as fast as you like... there are controlled zones which have variable limits.

Maybe we should take a leaf from the Box Heads...
