We are less than 5 weeks away from KillSpills first event of the year, our ride from the Ace Cafe to the National BikeSafe Motorcycle Show at the Metropolitan Police training ground Hendon – 29th March
It is important that we get a good turn out for this, our first event, of our farewell year. As we have previously suggested, it is likely that 2008 will be the last time KillSpills organise such events.
It is also important for the biking community to show their appreciation for the support the BikeSafe London Team have given to the KillSpills campaign.
I realise that March is early in the biking calendar, however I know that the Met have booked sunny, warm dry and salt free roads for the weekend, so we should all be OK.
A few marshals have responded to my earlier e mails re your availability, but we need more of you to make this our first event a success. If you haven’t told me yet which events you can martial for us, then can you let me know by the 5th March, THIS IS THE DEADLINE DATE FOR THE FIRST EVENT ONLY. If you are unsure re the later dates, you can let me know nearer the time.
We have to order the t shirts for the first event by the 7th March.
I have provided a summary of the events below for your information.
Can you also post details of our events on the various forums you are members of, we need to get the message across to as many bikers as we can.
Thank you for your continued support.

KILLSPILLS EVENTS 2008
SPRING – KILLSPILLS BACKS BIKESAFE Saturday 29th March 2008
START – Ace Cafe London 9:30 am
Our first event of the year will take place over the National BikeSafe weekend 29th and 30th March 2008. We will ride from the Ace Cafe to National BikeSafe at Hendon on Saturday 29th March 2008. At this event KillSpills are supporting the Metropolitan Police BikeSafe London team, without whom our past rallies would probably never have happened. It’s our way of thanking them for all the hard work and support they and especially Sergeant Paul Mostyn have put into our campaign. KillSpills will have a stand at the event as will hopefully some of our supporters. We will not have a police escort for this and will have to abide with the Highway Code. We will have some marshals posted along the route to give riders directions to Hendon together with direction signs at junctions. We leave the Ace at 11am. The police have various displays, you can try out demo bikes and have your riding assessed by BikeSafe (for free).
SUMMER – KILLSPILLS AT BIKEFEST UK – 7th June 2008 – DONNINGTON PARK Gates open 09:30 – A NEW WORLD RECORD IN THE MAKING
For our second event KillSpills will return to BIkeFest UK in 2008 with a bigger and better road safety display than in 2007. Again we have been given exclusive access to the track to complete two parade laps, and break KillSpills own Guinness World Record! Track time can be purchased for £20 from BIkeFest UK for a 20 minute session on the Moto GP track (usual Fast, Inters and Novice groups). Race teams and manufacturers will also be present, with race teams undertaking a practice session. This is a venue where we can bring industry, Governments Departments and bikers together. Show Government the support we have for our campaign. KillSpills will also be using this event to thank Fast Bikes Magazine for their continued support from the inception of our campaign.
AUTUMN – KILLSPILLS GOES TO THE BMF TAIL END SHOW – Saturday 20th September 2008
For our third and final event we meet up at the Ace Cafe London early on the Saturday morning. The KillSpills team will ride to Number 10 and present our fifth annual report into the dangers of diesel spills to the Prime Minister before heading to meet up with the 617 riders and Marshals for a breakfast at the Ace Cafe. We will then hold a rideout to the BMF Tail End show at Peterborough. This is KillSpills saying thank you to our main sponsors, the BMF for their support since 2005. It is possible that this will be the last KillSpills event.

Re: KILLSPILLS
BUMP.
Been reminded how f* ing dodgey it is with diesel spills, almost came off today riding back up onto Portland, lots of diesel spilt on the bend before the dowsett motors roundabout. Back end went right out and then regained grip nearly highsiding me into oncoming traffic, its First buses over filling their tanks. Reported. Sand is a temporary fix and it should be properly cleaned up.
