)and oil changed. Fired up bike to check all ok, and all ok, ticked over nicely. Next morning late for work already, bike fired twice then kaput, nada! Try again, turning over but no fire. Battery I thought, probably fried, but take it to work and get it charged. At work discovered it was dead, so forked out 36 quid for a newie, still fit it tonight I thought. Nope. Forgot we'd agreed to go to wife's nan for visit and by the time we got back it was too late to go rummaging around with batteries. I'll get up early I thought. And I did sort of, new battery in and press starter... no go. Oh Sh*T thinks I, must be wiring or something, no time to try late for work again ( pile wife and kids in car cos they need car today)! Get dropped off and seek advice from mechanics around where I work. Theories range from dirty plugs to electrical to fuel starvation. Fixing mostly means taking lots of bits off spraying libraly with Carb Cleaner and trying again. That evening radio on in garage, tools arranged like BA Barracus and off I go! Plugs cleaned, check, sparking on cylinder head, check, fuel flowing, AAAARG my eyes, check! Carb cleaner in inlets, check. Right got to work now, Press starter... ten minutes of turning, back fires, praying turns to swearing but still no bloody starting!!!Friday at work totally miffed and dejected and mechanic suggests he can get me spark plugs from Mill Auto at half the price I normally pay, and I might as well put them in cos at least its worth a go. Can't see it myself cos already cleaned exsisting plugs and no joy but hey why not. Take them home Friday evening, wife going out so can't go in the garage ( kids don't appreciate being comforted after a nightmare by oily hands and petrol stinking sweatshirt!). Weekend dawns and same old story, kids, in laws visit, Asda trip etc..SUNDAY EVENING, out to garage, old plugs out new plugs in, in my head I'm already borrowing the work van to get bike to bike shop, huge bill for labour etc, WHAT THE F*#K!! It's started, grab lid and gloves franticly revving the engine so blow out any crap and off round the village to celebrate!
The moral of this tale is..try the simple things first: bang head against wall, and repeat mantra till it sinks in...AAAARG
Its just taken me 3 days to remove 1 chain cover bolt cos the last person had rounded the hex insert and glued the bolt in so it ended up being drilled
