Where can i find the 200cc barrel

Post by BEN!!! »

hi guys i have been trying to find for a while the 200cc barrel for my xr 125 engine i know it exits as there are 200 cc versions of my bike. can any one shed any light on this one. also one other question is i have a spare barrel for my bike in the shed i was thinking about getting it ported by a companey , my only doubt is that because my engine used pushrod valves will this mean it would be point less as only so much metal could be took away ??

I would not go for a ReBore :!:

It will make the engine very fragile and wont take the thrashing.

Take a look here http://www-staff.lboro.ac.uk/~elvpc/bik ... XR200.html

for genuine Honda bits at knock-down prices put "dave silver spares" in google 8)

I thought XL and XR motors were quite different though :?

Just been looking at some specs on the XR200 engine.

Now going from 125 to 200 might not seem a lot but.

Bhp will go from 9.7 to 19 ish great news 8)

Torque will double ish great news 8)

Gearbox and output shaft may not take the increase for long Bad news

Also need to think about chain and sprockets. :(

The extra power will be good but its a big jump for the rest of the bike to handle.

Most big bore kits for 125's are around 175 and in my experiance (in the good old days of the DT125) things start going wrong as soon as you change the bore.

But could be better engineering these days.

Yeah but BEN has a fake xr125 which has a cg125 copy engine in it........ To be honest just save your money and buy a new bike when you can afford it.

if the bike is legit then you can get a new v5 from the dvla for £18. if you like small punchy singles try to track down a cb250rs - xl250 motor in a road bike frame - brilliant bikes. still probably slower than a derestricted 2stroke 125 though.

yeah the bikes legit Chris but the issue is its been down the road hard , the rear sub frame is twisted quite badly and too be honest i wanna use the cg frame as i think i can build a bike preetey quick now i have almost all the required bits. would i be able to get my barrel re bored to 175 ? if so i think i will as i do have a spare engine so if all gos wrong its not the end of the world as for not being quick as a 125 2t believe me after owning two tzrs i know !!, but my old man has just moved back up to Gloucester now so i wont to take my bike up soon to see him. ive got a tasty little carb im watching on eBay at the moment which should give the bike a bit more go (kx125 carb 39mm ) i also have a fmf power cone pipe and plan open making my own link system . pics to follow soon

all depends if they use the same stroke crank, and whether theyre the same barrels with a differnt bore and liner or different barrels altogether; and if theyre different barrels whether the heads are the same and oilways line up etc etc etc. by the time you've bought a new piston and rings, gaskets to suit, paid for rebore etc it all sounds like a lot of effort and cash compared to just bolting in a bigger motor complete.

I've got to say if you are planning on Re-bore, Brembo's, etc etc you would be better putting your money to a old ish KTM or DRZ.

Re-bore's arnt cheep.

And you can get a 640 LC4 Supermoto for maybe £700 - £1000 and I have seen them a lot less than that. Will be a kicker but still way more power and fun.

Get on the Motard site and look around. Ebay is also a good bet.
