Hand up all the time even to the younguns with L's hey there just starting the experience and if I am riding with the guys so could be up to 12 bikes and at lights hahahahah if we pull up behind always say Hi

hmmm well that response didnt suprise me at all, i agree with you all when it comes to harleys n goldwings not nodding. Went past a group of riders out this wknd, 4 harleys and one sportsbike, and only the sports biker nodded, its nuts???
Nod at most bikes, apart from peds, serious looking l platers. Don't nod at bikes like harleys, goldwings unless they nod first, sick of feeling like a idiot when they never nod back, but always nod back, as long as im paying attention.

It must be summer - the nodders are discussing the merits of waving/nodding - 3 pages of forum wasted so far !!!!!!!
TBH if I don't know you I probably won't go out of my way to wave to you - I'm concentrating on my line/road conditions/traffic conditions and just pushing on. I'd much rather you flash/warn me if there's trouble ahead.
Controversial? - yep, but there's enough to worry about on the road rather than watching if the bike going the other way is going to wave or not. I'll say hello if I pull up beside you at traffic lights, or if In a petrol station/pub etc.
What makes me laugh is there's a Bandit rider local to me, whenever I'm on a Sportsbike/Big Bike he'll wave like 'grandma waving to the kinds at the fair', when I'm on my XR400 he doesn't even look - presumably because it looks like a 125. I'm not bothered but it amuses me.

G - from Cornwall
I think secretly you're quite hurt that you clearly don't look like a "real" biker when out on your XR400, I suggest from now on you only ride big bikes and actively wave and nod at all other riders regardless of traffic and road conditions, in no time at all you'll be a much happier person.

every biker deserves a nod or respect, the biggest buzz i got when learning was when a scorp pulled up beside me on my my cg125 when stopped lights and encouraged me to get on and pass my test, never expected it and promptly booked my theory up because of it
