Re: Recommend Tyres
take a look in this months Bike magazine there is a bit in the back about the best supersports tyre and the 016 does well with the Pirelli diablo Rosso coming out on top. Sports touring wise though, i still say 021 everytime.

Hey dont mock - Its not easy to ride a gixxer thou on a track on touring tires when your bloated.
the vid of leatherpatches riding on those things is posted in the llandow vids thread in the trackday forum - it really is a good effort for such unsuitable tires and shows that you can give a set of touring tires a fair thrashing.

(Although had he slid on them I could have got some serious piss taking mileage about the fact that he had a perfectly ok set of supercorsa pros back in his garage.

It's "you're bloated" not "your bloated".jason wrote:Hey dont mock - Its not easy to ride a gixxer thou on a track on touring tires when your bloated.
As for the vid it tells me that I've got to get out and get some knee down practice. Also I see what you mean about that far bend - what a shitty line I was taking. I can almost sense your frustration with me from the video! You did well to advise me quietly at the end and not scream,
"Cut the apex, you fcuking moron!"

Re: Recommend Tyres
Thanks all for the advice, I will go away and have a think now! I'm currently running the following:
FRONT - Avon Azaro AV45-ST
REAR - Dunlop Sportmax D208
Don't know how good either on them are but have beeb reasonably impressed so far, but then I've only tried them!
The question was asked earlier "What I ride, and how I ride it"
The answer: I ride an SV650S k3 and I ride it for both commuting (if the weather is good) and for weekend/long rides. So varied I would say! Hope that answers any queries!

Re: Recommend Tyres
Most tyre fitters I know would never put on different brands of tyre, it's against all recommendations and they could be liable if anything happens.MattGreaves wrote:I didn't put separate ones on, I bought it like that!
Personally I would never run different brands as they all have differing methods of rating compounds and manufacture, e.g. a racing/track dunlop might be the equivalent compound of a track/sporting bridgestone. I've run different compounds of the same brand before (BT014 front and 020/021 rear), but if you're going to do this always make sure you have the stickier compound on the front.

Re: Recommend Tyres
like the other guys say - dont mismatch tyres its the surest way of ruining the handling of a perfectly good bike.
and like funky mentions absolutely never end up with a bike that has a stickier rear than front. that really will be liable to put you on your ass.
either change them as a set or get the other one of what you are leaving on.

Got to agree with that. Don't use them when it gets cold and wet though, then they're just dangerousdeej wrote:metzeller rensports will give you reasonable mileage and good grip for the weekends

Re: Recommend Tyres
Cheers for the advice Funky and Jason, I understand what you're saying and will take notice! In this case I've been lucky with the tyre choice of the previous owner as I've never had a problem, however I will replace the rear with one in line with the front!
On the note of tyre fitters being liable, they will only be liable if they do not fit the tyre correctly, not for what tyre brand they fit. It is up to the customer to request the tyre brand that they want, not for them to choose, and as there isn't a law that I know of about both tyres being the same, the customer (in the event of something happening) will not have a leg to stand on, unless the tyre was fitted incorrectly and can be proven by court of law
