Donington ... Day of Champions

Post by Jak »

Took mini-me up for the day and had a great time. The weather was totally un-British-summer-like ... the sun was shining all day long!!!!

For those who don't know .... Day of Champions is a charity day for Riders (MotoGP/Dorna charity) and lots of the riders are out and about saying hello, and there's a big charity auction too. Thought I'd bore you with some pics :D

First thing we did was go and watch a bit of live music ...

... and they were brilliant! Nothing to do with the fact we were standing right in front of

Watched the ride-in ... was glad to see there was not too much "health and safety" so they could go quick if they wanted to.

Actually - JT told a funny tale (up on stage with Crash) ... he did a cycle ride round the track and was told that he'd have to ride the wrong way round because otherwise he'd probably go too fast #-o

Went over to the pits and had a look to see who was around, didn't meet either of the Tech 3 guys :(

There was some roaming entertainment - great laugh

Then mini-me set off hunting for autographs, met a few of the racers, real nice guys too.

mini-me "why's he wearing a wig ... it looks silly" ... fortunately he was a bit further away at the time :D

Also briefly met Marco Melandri, but he was late for an interview and apologised loads that he couldn't stop. And looking at the MotoGP site just now I saw a pic of Ben Spies, realised that we saw him too - just didn't recognise him. Met Phil Read too - he was rather chuffed that mini-me asked for his autograph and gave her a signed pic too :D

Spent a small fortune on food and a larger fortune on jackets/hats #-o

Knackered now after driving home (4½hours) but it was a great day out. Next year I think we might stay on for the race too.

I reckon Toseland will go well on Sunday ... he said he's looking forward to racing on a track he actually knows!

Totally!! Especially given that whenever they stood still they were immediately surrounded by people shoving paper in their faces ... there weren't many kids there so my daughter stood out and they were all happy to stop and make time for her. Tony Elias was in a rush and brushed past a few people but then saw Georgia, grinned and stopped to talk to her. Danny Webb looked amazed that we stopped him for his autograph - he's obviously not quite got the hang of the "celebrity" bit yet  Was amazed that the campervan area (where they all "live") was open too ... felt really sorry for Casey Stoner - didn't see him, but we saw this huge crowd stood outside his van just waiting and bugging anyone who went in/out.

What Twenty Million American Women Want

Post by tytiiiore »

bump up then lurk

Tammy bought a new book recently entitled "What Twenty Million American Women Want." Seeing the title, Doug grabbed the book out of her hand and started thumbing through (翻看)the pages.

Astonished and not just a little bit irritated, Tammy stared up at him and said, "What in the world are you doing?"

Doug replies, "I just want to see if they've got my name spelled right."
