Ooops, Silly Fella !!

Post by TLS-Moose »

Well, he was stupid, but this raises some questions about the penatly the fitting crime and what can be used to prosecute someone .....

http://news.itn.co.uk/news/3d7bb8effac7 ... cd1d1.html

I guess its more acceptable to go mug someone, or steal anothers property, than it is to ride on basically clear but open public highways

If he'd just used his right to remain silent i think he would have not even had the police see the youtube videos and just had a warning.

I am sure I was told that you should keep any vids of you and your bike on the road anonymous if you do something like that! Also, you give it to someone else to post!

Anyway, he lives in north oxford and it is about 30mins from silverstone. I live in central and takes around 50mins to get there. It costs £99 for a trackday, it'll be cheaper!!

I know we all make mistakes but this guy was riding badly. In Scandinavian countries over 15mph over the speed limit includes a prison. :o
Blue Sv650s Curvey - Now unrestricted but starting to find the suspension a problem.
Next bike: CBR600RR eventually.

his only real crime was stupidity. But it does seem unfairly harsh.

i always wonder how bike magazines get away with showing all the photos of people hooning. I did like one caption which said by a picture of someone wheeling "image was creating using CG editing" :D

I think most people agree he's a numpty, but think about this,

He may be a tw@t but who got hurt?

On the very same day MCN and the nationals coverered the story about the dad, daughter, range rover story where he was convicted of her death,,,,

he didn't go to jail.

Food for thought.

This was part of the issue I was trying to raise ..... It seems to me the punishment does not fit the crime. What he did was stupid, there is no denying that, but no-one else was hurt - Other than his own self-incrimination he had apparently done nothing to date to raise police awareness, so why does his crime demand/warrant a 12 week custodial sentence when other seemingly more serious crimes see people go relatively scot-free :?

Seems to me that the crime/penalty balance has become a bit tilted, and often dependant on media perception/politcal motivation in "fad" at the time (guns, knives, dangerous dogs, etc.,...)

What a pillock. Rule one film it for yourself only!

But Moose he was a biker so therefore must be punished  The real violent criminals have to be set free to leave space for him.

As I understand it his actions 'had' raised awarness with the police, as members of the public had complained about his riding. Which is how they came to have a chat with him in the 1st place, it was only then the berk effectively gave them the evidence
so why does his crime demand/warrant a 12 week custodial sentence when other seemingly more serious crimes see people go relatively scot-free :?
That's an easy one to answer, it's to send a message that that kind of riding/behaviour isn't acceptable on the public highway & the penalty will be severe if caught.

Don't get me wrong Moose, I understand what you're saying in as much as a motorist gets jail/is delt with severely by the courts, yet some mugger/burgler/drug dealer etc gets a slap on the wrist & don't do it again. It's been like it for ages & seems to be more so these past few years as the motorist is seen as the sporn of the devil.
Like many others I'm no angel on the road & have enjoyed many a 'spirited' moment (and still do) that could get me into trouble with the law, but what he did was stupid & I'm afraid IMO his punishment is to be expected.

Silly bugger is all i can say riding like that is stupidity in the first place, but they say when they caution you you have the right to remain silent and it can be the best ting to do in some cases
