Free Bike Parking To Go !! Please Look !!

Post by Varcon »

Free bike parking for motorcyclists could be scrapped nationally because information needed to oppose the move has been kept from riders, according to campaigners.

Under law people have six months to object to new parking charges for motorcycles becoming permanent. But public notices telling riders vanished within days of the charges being introduced.

A campaign group says motorcyclists across the country will lose long-standing free bike parking bays and urges riders to sign the group’s petition on Number 10’s website at

Deadline to sign up by: 06 March 2009

Like they're trying to do with the congestion charge.

It's crap. They charge bikes more for tax than some cars and now they want us to pay parking. Might as well use the car and cause more congestion

So what technology are they going to use (that is not discriminatory) to prove/ensure you have paid :? I can't recall where there are any dedicated bike parks in Exeter ...... :? as far as I am aware, the only time you will get ticketed in Exeter is if you park on a pavement, fill a space that a (paying) car could otherwise use, or park on private property (where you will/may get clamped)

I struggle to see how this would be enforcable in this part of the world :?

All it will mean is more bikes parking between car spaces (as I do at present).
Of all the things I have ever lost, I miss my mind the most .....

Wouldn't be too surprised if charges are introduced though as with the current financial climate & Gordy the oaf throwing our money around like confeti councils will be looking for ways of making money & as we all know anything with wheels & an engine is always fair game.....unless it's used by a politician
