But I think sending him to prison is a massive over reaction, I know he was stupid but prison??

Nobody got hurt, nothing got damaged or stolen bike was probably all legal, is that really enough to possibly destroy this guys life?

120mph on a big bike like that prob felt like it was cruising.

Hey how many of use have or ride at that speed on a daily basis ??

Now with a 14 year old on the back is the question as to weather it was right or wrong.

My 13 year old many times asks how fast that time Dad. He loves it and ok i have broken the speed limit with him on the back.

Not silly silly speed, Only for a short squirt though but neverless i have done it to.,

Doesn't feel too bad at the time but when you hear someone else has done it, you can easily judge.

I agree with you, but you should know by now that you can steal to support a drug habit, beat up people in the street, etc., etc., and that is semi-acceptable ....... but sling your leg over a motorbike and you become the spawn of the devil Certain high profile/flavour of the month crimes chosen by the media/politicians always seem to carry warped sentences .... speeding has been there for some time, a while back it was dangerous dogs, or drunken teenagrers, currently it's knives, no doubt it will move on to something else in due course, but it seems speeding will always rank up therewith murder and such serious offences

I can't remember where I saw it, but there was a study into penalties given for speeding, and across the board bikers were punished far more seriously than car drivers for similar offences

Now let's see, winter conditions, 122 MPH, young son on pillion, not wearing gloves, just started raining to add to already greasy roads. Can't see a cop car/van in a layby. Think that about sums it up.
Have to say I think he's a right plonker! As to whether or not he deserves a prison sentence, probably not.

Will he get his life made a living hell on earth by his missus? Think that's going to be a slight understatement!

people make mistakes all the time and unlucky for him he got caught, but jail is a bit extreme. the courts always tear by bikers apart, its the court making an example of him and i bet you 90% of people with a bike are over the speed limit when riding.

hes got a suzuki 1300 top speed over 200 probly paid around £10,000 for it.( dont quote me on that) you find a car that can do that for the same price? yeah there probly is one somewhere.

Couldn't agree more, personally I've never got a busa to pull past about 190, even with the 186 restrictor bypassed
Also to miss a camera van whilst doing that sort of speed on a road that's notorious for speed tax collector vans is rather stupid.

All in all though, his riding in the clip appeared smooth and safe, and as has been mentioned no-one got hurt, and there is no real proof that anyone was even endangered by it so I have to say that I think sending him to prison would be a total utter disgrace to our legal system. Nothing new there then..........

The anti-Biking brigade love this sort of thing, a little bit of a over reaction I think. Yes it was careless but Prison! Most of us have done it at some time I often take my daughter as pillion and have occasionaly gone over the speed limit but she always wears the correct clothing including gloves.

No doubt about it, the bloke seems to be lacking a bit in the grey matter department.

Having said that, compare his treatment with the PC who took a new, unmarked BMW out of Telford nick for a spin. He managed over 80mph in a 30mph limit and 156mph in national speed limits. His defence was that he was practicing despite the fact that he did it on his own, in an unfamiliar vehicle, unsupervised, without permission, without the blues and twos on and at night time. The magistrates accepted his defence and aquitted him. There was a public outcry and the CPS was forced to appeal. He was found guilty of speeding only on appeal, he didn't loose his license or his job.

It would seem that 156mph at night or worse still 80mph in a 30mph limit is not dangerous driving when done by a copper out for a blast but is when done by a biker in daylight and on a clear albeit damp road.

This is what our distorted justice (I use the word in it's loosest sense) system calls consistancy.

I've posted quite a bit on this subject. And here's another example of anti-biking anti-speeding lunacy.

Yes, OK, he's clearly a plonker and he broke the law. But does the punishment really fit the crime? I hope the magistrate is just trying to give him a scare by talking about a custodial sentence. It'll be interesting to see what transpires.

And may I also add... Thanks buddy, whoever you are, for your valuable help in positively promoting bikers as responsible and law-abiding. Everyone knows that the N Devon link road is one big speed trap. It's pricks like you who ruin it for the rest of us.
