If the Police want to improve road safety, why don't they give bikers a break and spend a bit of time focusing on the school run mums instead. I went out for a walk this afternoon and I lost count of the number of cars with three or more bratlets, yapping dog, driven by their fag-ash Lil mother with no regard for road positioning, road markings, speed limits, other road users - and all without seatbelts.. GRRRRRR!

If the headline read ' Biker clocked at 122mph' I'd think laps of judgment, or a bit of fun all-be-it not the best of conditions for it.

But to clock up those speeds with your kid on the back... That’s pretty retarded, especially in dodgy conditions...

I think a prison sentence is a little extreme though, and I'm sure he's constantly reminded that it could have easily have been 'Biker and son Killed' But people will always do stupid things...
Cheers, Marc.

Have to agree with the fact that the bloke is a complete pillock. 122 mph with any pillion that not got full kit on and your stupid, With a kid on is worse  Also as said speeding on the north devon link road with its, what seems full time camera vans and unmarked cars is just asking for trouble.

And then to boast that " my bike's the fastest there is and it can do 220 mph" then I'm sorry I hope he does get locked up just for being a complete and utter prick.

And the scary thing is...... He bread, there at least 1 mini him

Actually yeah. You're right. Lock the fuckwad up. Not for speeding but for the stupidass comments. The last thing we need is that sort of attention. I can hear the do-gooders and politicians now; "220mph?! That shouldn't be allowed! Restrict bikes!"

The first rule of bike club, is that you don't talk about bike club. The more we stay off the radar (literally!), the better.

Ye gotta agree lock him up just for being a prick...who the feck rides a GSX1300 at 122mph, makes the news headlines everywhere...then goes to court dressed like Roy Cropper complete with green plastic shopping bag!!! he looked like he didn't have the intelligence to cross the road on his own let alone have the intelligence not to do something like that again...nothing against this "care in the community" policy but you can't let em go about unsupervised

Wrong place, wrong time, wrong conditions and he hasn't done himself any favours by what he's said but prison!!??...... do me a favour!! Paedophiles get less then that! Hopefully common sense will prevail (to the judge) and he'll get a whacking great fine and a 12 month ban.

As for having a go at his speed, I'm sure the majority of us on here hit similar speeds!! :D :D

I think thats a bit overkill!

I used to be really irresponsible on the road, one time I was pulled over for going faster than that in addition to doing other naughty things.

I got 6 points and a £200 fine

But then I guess the issue is the risk. He was taking anothers life into his hands. No matter how safe it may feel to drive at those speeds, the consequences of a mistake (on anyones part) would change/ruin his son's life.

Copied this from another forum, let's see how they compare later.

For the record I think this is fair enough.
..............................................................................................................................

TWO BROTHERS caught by the police as they raced against each other on their bikes at speeds up to 138mph on back roads have been banned.
Graeme Bruce, 22, and Michael Bruce, 24, were caught by officers in a marked police car speeding along the B936 road between Falkland and Dunshalt in Fife. The duo later pleaded guilty to speeding at 138mph on the 60mph road.

Sheriff William Gilchrist banned the pair for six months and fined them £300 each. Chief Inspector John McDonald, head of road policing for Fife Constabulary, told the BBC: "Today's conviction of two young brothers sends out a message that those who drive at high speed face the consequence of losing their licence.

"I would like to remind all bikers that we have the capability to detect them and will bring new detection tactics to meet the dangers such reckless behaviour brings."

Lets be clear about the issue of the speed involved.

122mph is not particularly fast by the standards of modern automobiles.

Many family hatchbacks will achieve that, and much more, with very little effort.

Are we, (or at least some of us), saying that motorcycle top speeds should be restricted ?

It's not his speed that i am against, It's the fact that he had a kid on the back so should have adjusted his speed.

Also that he knew the kid didn't have complete safety gear. Why? he had gloves on. I wouldn't dream of letting Matt go on the bike is he wasent as kitted up.

Then he has done bikers no favours at all by shooting his mouth off and bragging that he could have gone a whole lot faster. I bet the judge loved to hear that comment.

How does the saying go? When in hole. stop digging

Credit the judge with some common sense.

I think even the most disinterested are fully aware that superbikes are capable of 150mph + top speeds

122mph on a Hayabusa is far from gunning it.

Have to agree with most of what's written on the matter - he certainly didn't look the sharpest knife in the drawer - did he really turn up at court dressed like a derro? That doesn't help for starters (in addition to riding that fast on thatbit of road with a kid on the back, no gloves, biggest crime of all being not spotting the stealth tax collection van - did he really mouth off about having the fastest standard Busa in the world (by 30mph+) or was that a bit of journalistic licence?? We all know that they'll never let truth get in the way of a bit of wild distortion or just plain lies don't we?
It'd be interesting to keep an eye on the local paper for all the "results" from the local Magistrates' Court to see the sort of punishments meted out to the common or garden pondlife for TWOCking, burglaries, robberies, assaults, D&D... you know, the sort of crimes where there ARE victims... and see if his punishment is in relation to theirs..

I read a story today of a 16 year old girl who was killed whilst using a car roof as a sledge whilst adults looked on.
If this rider was jailed for not considering the safety of his son, even though nothing happened, why weren't the parents of this girl also locked up.

Where does this health & safety paranoia end.

I was watching crimewatch or something and a 14 year old stole a mercedes, they had to use a stinger on it. He was caught, but then the charges were dropped. That is just wrong.

Correct me if I'm wrong, wasn't that just a tragic accident as she crashed into a fence? If so not really comparable to a bloke doing 122mph with his son on the back, no matter whether he was wearing gloves or not.

And yeah... it was daft, but no harm done. No need for a prison sentence.
