where in plymouth area can i loose my KD cherry?

Post by Mike Hayward »

Hi all

Well after taking delivery of my first leather suit today :D c/w un touched sliders i figured i'd attempt this evening to get some scuffs into the sliders, me and a friend took a paced ride up to paignton bike night via avonwick roads and the suit felt great the bike felt great on many occasions i looked down to see my speedo needle far higher than i expected! i'm guessing its the new found confidence in the suit etc after wearing textiles.

Anyway on the way up and back i didn't get anywhere near K/D so we took a jolly up to wrigleys roundabout in plymouth, and after god knows how many times around and around getting faster and faster i'm still a good inch or 2 away (friend watching) it got to the point my right ankle was hurting and i was practically off the bike!
Biggest prob i found was near the junction from the george the road has been badly damaged by lorries and each time i got caught in the holes it threw the bike and me about in quite an unsettling manor!

So wear is a good place to go a practice the trick and any tips?

Cheers

Mike

Save it for the track, Mike :D Come to Llandow in just over three weeks, you can spend all day learning to do it in relative safety and you won't get nicked for riding like a t!t on the roads.... 8)

Oh yeah, a really easy and totally free way to improve the steering on your ZX7 is to get a 22mm spanner and raise the rear ride height via the adjuster on the top mount of the rear shock - takes minutes and will transform the steering from barge-like to quick and responsive - just do it! 8)

Jesus christ dont do it on the Wrigleys one! There are NO good roundabouts in Plym for it, all the road surfaces on em are crap. Best bet is Roborough roundabout before the moors, but its a bit busy until about 9pm at least really. I've not tried it there, still not sure if I would, but its the best one in town for it, but it still aint good. I've got me KD on a roundabout on a few nice roundabouts, not local though

Oh and if you wanna try it up there I'll be up there at 7pm tommorow, will give you a few tips etc  Have PMd ya me number

The rear shock has an adjustable link on top of it, i've raised mine up a good 10mm or more and dropped the front forks through by 7mm - when i did that it did make a huge difference to it! best thing so far is having the forks rebuilt by peak performance (they were unbalanced also  ) then returned to steve at PP where he did a suspension set up for me and feels really good now.

sounds like there are a few 7r riders in plymouth, although i never see any on the road!

wrigleys is always popular but to learn on i think there are too many grooves and pits in the road. i first learned on the roundabout at yelverton, smooth road and you can see all around it encase any cars come onto it!
