The Triumph Street Triple is a pretty impressive bike apparantly. Havn't read a bad review yet. 8)

Not sure about secondhand availability though or price.

Might be worth a thought.

depends on your experience with bikes, how tall you are etc.

I wouldn't suggest going from a 125 to a sports 600, I made that mistake.

If you're tall don't go for a 400 as you'll be all knees.

I think you're right with SV to be honest. Learn on that then when comfortable and you have listened and taken all advice on board and learned a few things yourself then get something sportier if you wish.

I can't really comment on cruisers, super motos etc as I've never owned one.

Cheers for all the advice everyone, really appreciate it.

In answer to a few points that have been raised, I'm 26, 5'10" and 12.5 stone. Only bike experience I have is motocross and I used to own a twist and go which got me to college but that was a good few years back now.

I'd like an all rounder if I'm honest so I can gain some experience but am still leaning towards the sportsbike option. Be nice to have the option of "warp speed" in case I decide to take it on a track day. The leathers etc will all be bought before riding so no worries.

Some food for thought already, thanks again

Just thought I'd post on here now that I've got a bike out of courtesy to all those who chipped in with their comments.

Went for the Daytona 675 in the end so hopefully I'll get to meet a few of you over the summer. I'll keep my eye on the ride out and track day threads and see when you'll be out and about. It's a 2009 Red model so you might get a nod over the coming months. I'll post pics in user galleries when I pick her up next month.

Thanks again for all the advice.

I've owned a few bikes and the 675 is very appealing....I've owned 7x 1000cc sport bikes and my favourite out of the whole lot is my old VFR400R with about 60bhp compared to the 155hp I was used to with the Ducati.

Once I sell this R1, 675 it is..... 8)
