You are of course welcome along to any Southwestbikers rideout, however your bike must be in good mechanical order (we don’t want anything falling off of it including you), taxed and have a current MOT. You must have a valid motorcycle licence and current motor insurance. You are in charge of your motorcycle at all times and SWB will not accept any responsibility for actions you take or any accidents you may have. Always ride within your own capabilities and do not put others at risk. Remember, while you are on a Southwestbikers rideout you are representing the site and what it stands for.
Thank-you.

Don't forget......ANYONE can organise and run a rideout.

Re: Sunday 13th Bimble WHAT A DAY

Post by Rsv4Col »

WOW
we have not had a day like that for a while
Yamster ! hope your ok buddy. We stopped at Cowley Bridge garage for Frazzle to get fuel and Yamster to pump up his rear tyre. Next thing we know we are ringing for an ambulance cause Yamster is having a Heart problem :80: after some tests they decide to take him to RD & E . Neil hope you got both bikes back to Paignton ok .

After a steady ride to Torrington on some nice greasy roads we decide to come back via Hatherleigh.
By now the roads are drying but some of the corners are still a bit dodgy so the ride back is a little more spirited.
At North Tawton we turn for Whiddon Down. I am leading with ChrisK5 and Redlight close behind. I turn into a right hand corner and the road is inches deep in Mud which has been dragged out of a field on the left hand side right before the apex. My arse is working overtime as i see the hedge getting closer and closer but manage to keep it upright on this occasion look in my mirror and Chris is right on my exhaust but in the background i can see Tony was not so lucky.
We have a witness and Tony thankfully is unhurt. There were no signs warning of mud on the road so i suggested ringing the Police to get some sort of sign on the road warning other riders who may not be as lucky as Tony.
We all took photos and have the name and address of the witness who happened to be stood in the gateway of the next farm waiting for his wife to return from horse riding.

Hope everyone is ok and hopefully see you all out again soon.
It was good to meet you frazzle.

Never a dull moment

I took one look at the rain cloud coming over last night and didnt even bother setting the alarm. Just been out myself (Quickshifters rock btw) and done Exeter>Crediton>Winkleigh>Bambam rise>Whiddon Down>old A30 and a fair few of the roads were completely covered in mud, some sign posted, most were not. Thankfully it was a alot drier for me, so easier to spot and navigate. Even though it was a dry ride, my bike was completely caked in dust, so shows how muddy it was out there.

Thanks Col/Chris ....for hanging around. The bike is in SP and Andy and I will collect it tomorrow. Not going to claim, but will chase the farmer for a bit of comp, through my insurance co. Here is a picture....... the road (where the mud was) was in shade and there were other bikes coming in the opposite direction. I was just thinking of keeping well clear of the apex and before I knew it.....down it went. Bummer.

Thanks for all the comments. Andy and Layne turned up at SP this morning and loaded the bike into Andy's van so I could get it home.Have to say a big thank you to Steve and the team at SP for looking after it until I could make arrangements.

I have informed the insurers who are looking into the posibility of a claim against the farmer. Initial thoughts are that it is a write off!

Thanks once again to all that lent a hand.........a friend in need!!!
