Alpinestars SMX-5 boots

Post by tom-xj6 »

Hello everyone - I'm just looking for some advice!

Has any one got a pair of Alphinestars SMX-5 waterproof boots? If so, any thoughts on quality and durability? I've been looking at a pair of these for a while now but don't want to blow a load of cash on something that won't last....

Thanks in advance

Tom

I have them they are good but I am starting to get some issues iv done 9500 in 9 months and ridden them through soaking wet and dry and they have been dragged down the road once  i am starting to get a leak round the inside of the feet where the seam from boot to sole is, if that makes sense.... They are good boots but also the waterproof bit that sits inside the zip is very big and bulky and can be uncomfortable for the first couple hundred miles or if ur leathers are thick inside them

That makes them sound pretty poor and I would probs look at a pair of waterproof Sidi's but they are good boots  hope that helps!

I've got these, had them for about a year and half. Had no problems with them and they seem pretty good to me. I haven’t used them in a massive downpour but used them in light to moderate rain a few times and had no leaks.

Only done about 3000 miles in them, so joker1067's reply will be better for the reliability of them. I agree the waterproof inner inside the zip is quite bulky but I haven’t had any problems with comfort from it. They are pretty easy to walk in as well.

Hope this helps.

Hi Tom

Take your bike clothing with you and try the boots on with what ever trousers you wear to get a feel of them. Before I got mine I read quite a few reviews and didn't hear anything bad. Some people said the sizes came up a bit small on them but they seemed fine to me.

I will probably head over there on the bike anyway so will be able to do a like-for-like comparison with the cheapo Bullson ones I got when I started out. I began running out of budget when I started kitting up so ended up spending about half on the boots that I was intending to.... Ended up with a better lid than I was planning on buying though so I think I got the priorities right!

Cheers
