My horn has stopped working although it works sometimes and by sometimes I mean once in a blue moon.. I have no idea what could have caused this problem I also notice my handle bars vibrate quite alot while riding down the motorway enough so that it makes my hands go numb!
Since I'm totally skint I can't take it to a professional mechanic and since I'm a complete numpty when it comes to anything related to the mechanical aspect of bikes I'm in no mans land lol.
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Few problems with my bike..
Some horns have an "adjusting" screw ....... but then again a new (pattern) one will only cost a few quid (certainly less than a tenner) so its probably just as easy to replace it
As for the handlebars do you have balance weights on them
another solution used to be foam "baja" style grips

Of all the things I have ever lost, I miss my mind the most .....

Re: Few problems with my bike..
check the wires where they connect to the horn are intact
check the wire connectors are corrosion free - not green or brown
check the horn tabs (where the connectors connect) aren't rusty or covered in crap - scratch them with a screwdriver to see if you can see through to the metal
if u find any of the above issues, wd40, brillo pad, elbow grease, cutters, crimps - job done
while you are at it, dquirt some wd40 into the gap where the horn button goes in on the handlebars and then press it a few times, could be some water corrosion in there too.

you may also find you switch gear to have suffered from rust/crud build up on the contacts inside it, used to happen to mine on the indicators each winter, to fix it Id just have to spend five minutes cleaning the contacts my simply turning the switch on and off, eventually itd take off the contamination and theyd work fine, until the next winter
Re: Few problems with my bike..
Hey guys cheers for the helpful responses I did pretty much all of what you guys said and it worked lol so thanks for the advice. I think it was due to water. I took my bike for an M.O.T today and it failed, apparently my chain is far past its life time and they said its very dangerous to ride it like that.. I thought it was fine, kinda shows how much I know about anything mechanical regarding bikes! Getting a new chain and sproket fitted on Friday the labour charges really, REALLY cripple me.

High labour charges are why lots of people learn to do their own mechanical stuff

Re: Few problems with my bike..
Should of let me know mate I'd only charged arf of that much. ;)
Re: Few problems with my bike..
Wish I knew that before Dave lol but to be fair a local family run garage did it over £100 cheaper than what fowlers wanted to chrage me and that included a top of the end chain and a new M.O.T so I can't really complain. I wish I had access to my own garage or a shed so I could teach myself but unfortunately I don't. I'd no doubt make the problems worse or forget how it all goes back together anyway lol.
Cheers guys,
