Ran a red light with a camera on it

Post by Sparkie »

Okay so last Thursday I accidentally ran two red lights and one of them had a camera on it, the light was on red when I went through it and from what I can gather it had been on red for a bit before I came around the corner and through it. I did slow down after I went through it but it was not enough and I then I went through the second set which were straight after the first set. :ymapplause:

So I am certain I would of got caught by the camera but what I'd like to know it how long does it take to receive the letter saying you were caught and is it possible for the camera to cover two separate sets of lights or would it just cover the one set?

Cheers.

Yeah I was thinking it was 2 weeks but its been over a week already and I have heard nothing so I could do with a 100% sure answer so I know if I got lucky or can expect to get smacked with a fine and points because obviously I'd have to conserve my money.

Also if this would get more attention in a different section of the forum could a mod please move it as this is really stressing me out.

Thanks for the response scorcher.

It was one of the big yellow cameras and I think they flash? However I did not notice a flash so god knows.

If you do not recive any notice after 14 days then you are home dry. but firstly I would like to say you need to take care of what you are doing as points and fines only cost money but running red lights will cost you your LIFE.

Secondly, on a lighter note. Not all camera boxes have cameras in them all the time.

Best of luck that you don't here anythin but be more careful in the future.

dont quote me but as far as im aware they dont all flash!! some may be the digital ones. The camera covering lights is a red light camera and will also clock your speed so chance of getting caught twice for one snap!! The second camera will probably be a speed camera. Ive also heard that they are all being taken out of commision and some towns refuse to have them working but again dont quote me on it! and its 2 weeks for letter to arrive.

Thanks for the responses guys, it happened on the 14th and I have not heard anything about it so that would be 2 weeks today unless its 14 working days? You are completely right BladeMan and I will definitely be paying more attention, its the first time I have put myself and others at risk due to lack of attention I'm normally really on the ball but it only takes one time doesn't it.

Thanks again for the information and good luck wishes, if by some miracle I have got away with it it would be a huge weight lifted! These 14 days are a killer.
