Greetings all....

Im planning a tour with some mates of mine and will be using a few ferries on a run down from Exeter to Falmouth.
Dartmouth, Bodinnick and Trelissick are small as you all know and as there will be eight bikes Im wondering if its the done thing these days to filter past waiting cars to the head of the wait line. I guess its likely to piss-off some people but my main concern is what the ferry operators attitude would be.

Anyone experience of this situation?

I think it depends on queue size and group size. You have two choices - stay as a group in the queue, chilling out, or, if the queue goes on for ever and you can't see the end gently filter forward. Make a note of the last vehicle in the queue so that if it should get "heated" you know where you should be. Be aware, that on some of those mentioned there may not be a lot of room at the front to squeeze into. I dont think people would grumble about the odd bike going to the front, but a group of say a dozen could be considered a little impolite ....... Dartmouth Lower Ferry (there's two there) and King Harry (which I assume you've called Trelissick) are both quite tight for space at the front for a big group to filter into, from memory.

My experience with thesferries is that you can filter to the front of the queue then the ferry man will direct you to either wait for the cars to go on then you fill the gaps or they will direct you to a designated motorcycle spot. Chances are either way you will be last off the boat.

With the King Harry Ferry I've always filtered to the front, then the Ferry guys stick you on first, as bikes are the quickest up the hills either side and don't hold up the tourists. Never done it with more than two bikes though, so six or so may be pushing it ;) .
