Re: Passed my DAS
congrats, welcome to the big wheels club
get the oomph in the ability before going nuts and getting something big in the horses dept. A good rider on a smaller bike can run rings around big bikes with inexperienced riders.
enjoy it but don't be in hurry to taste hospital food - it sucks.
now get out, enjoy and stay away from gixxers

Congratulations
Re: Passed my DAS
Thanks,
Wont get carried away, looking at 600 Fazers, SV650's etc
Not much around too local at the mo, but I am sure something will crop up.

Best feeling in the world! I certainly felt a sense of achievement and couldn't help smiling when ever I saw the next batch of trainees following the leader with flapping hi-vis jackets on.
Well done!

Re: Passed my DAS
Nothing wrong with fz8's or z750's, only as much power as you want to use, but there if you want it in the future!

To be honest, I havent been on many bikes, so get the pleasure of hopefully riding a few before I hand over my hard earned cash.....but yeah trying not to get carried away is always tough!

Re: Passed my DAS
Go for the sv, top bike to learn on, very tweakable if you want but very forgiving when faced with mistakes. Manageable power to play with.

Re: Passed my DAS
Yes that's what I learned on. There is only one local to me for sale at the mo but it has almost 30k on the clock. I think I will just have to travel further for something, havent put the YBR up for sale yet, so not in too much of a rush.
SV was very comfy even after riding on it for 2 days, I am not the smallest of guys, the ER 500 was a bit snug!

Re: Passed my DAS
If you get the SV make sure it's not the original model as I hear that can bite. Don't be afraid to go for a cheap older bike in general though as there is a pretty high chance that either you will bin it or someone will knock you off. Then when you are experienced you can splash out with confidence that it's the right bike.
I'd even recommend trying an old 600 Bandit but I can't disagree with Simon (billi) on the SV - it's not the bike for me but it's hard to beat. If you are set on fairly new bikes have a look at the new crop of 300s. That's plenty fast enough for two years of learning the real riding skills Simon mentioned and so light and flickable they are a joy. If you do drop one there is 60Kg less resting on your leg and you can pick it up again easily.

Re: Passed my DAS
Congrats on the test pass
SV is not a bad bike at all, and tbh if its well looked after 30K is no big deal.
