Hi, if you Google Martin Jennings Memorial Ride you can find out about it, I believe the charity this year is Blood Bikes. I did my first ride last year with a friend they went as far as Cornwall Services. The start is normally Truro but it seems the start venue is to be announced soon. Try and make this if you can, I think it is the biggest in Cornwall.
Re: Martin Jennings Run 2016
Martin Jennings was a local bike breaker & racer who got killed in 1987 Manx GP.
He helped me out with my early bikes like his late father did for my Dad (who grew up near by). For this reason I do this run - I'm not a fan of bike runs in general.
We did visit where Martin had his accident & got talking to the house owner who invited us back to watch the racing, which we've done several times, I think my folks still get Christmas cards from them.
The run was and is still organised by Dave Saunby, when dave gets involved in something he does it to obsession and to be fair to him, has raised thousands for local charities.
One think that annoys me about this run, you pay £3 solo or £5 two up to take part, despite numbers of 1500 bikes muted etc, the amount raised never equates to 1500 x £3 let alone the many riders two up and spectactors donating at the finish - I do feel that many bikes join in on route to avoid the fund raising bit.
It's a decent event, unfortunately watered down by other runs since organised locally, it does cover some nice routes and quite a social event at the end finishing at Falmouth rugby club with a bar & burger vans plus live music outside.

Ta for info' Mando' and Graham; darkness duly lightened.
I'll do the Google thing to check out the route and I may be one of the late joiners if it goes anywhere near God's county
- rest assured I won't dib out of me 3 quid contribution, it'll be worth that to allow me to hightail it back east out of Falmouth at the end ............ .
Now I just have to see how me bod is come the day

The route is normally kept secret to stop people blasting ahead and to help retain the 'convoy'.
More often than not, they stop at Plusha Services/Anthea's Cafe/Subway for a lunch stop.

Re: Martin Jennings Run 2016
I did the Martin Jennings run a few times in the late 90's early 2000's normally on Chicken chasers (off road mens bikes) unfortunately back then there was a small minority of total tossers on GixBladeZzr's who tried to ride like Rossie past every one else, with one finally ending up in ditch off the side of a car brown bread..not what you want to see when you're out for a scoot....must say I did it again a few years ago and that element seemed to have grown up. We stopped doing the megga ride for the same reason.
Re: Martin Jennings Run 2016
TBH Moley, in the early days it was a given that you'd stop for a while & work your way back through the run.
It did get spoilt one year where a Hayabusa & GSXR1000 got a little too silly - both riders did go back to the organisor & apologised though.
You might want to tweak your post as there haven't been any fatalities on the run.

Well that's good news, we got passed on the A39 just after St Columb very fast and close. One of the group then hit a car 1/4 -1/2 mile past Winards pearch roundabout, the Chinese whispers were that he had died, It was probably 2000 or 2001 as I remember being on a Gas gas 300.
