Tyre prices nowadays! (but found a bargain anyway)

Post by Jug »

Back in 2018 I bought a set of Bridgestone T30 Evo's for my SD990 and they've been good tyres.
The rear cost me £78 and as it's just about done now I had been keeping an eye out for a good deal. The best prices seemed to be £98-£103 delivered, which is a bit of jump in just 2 years.

Perseverance has paid off though as a new one popped up on fleabay last week for £66 delivered, just in time!
I was sceptical but took a punt on it anyway... it arrived today and it looks good.

Nice to know bargains do still appear on fleabay... but you have get lucky though (and jump quickly).

Gonna finish off my old one this weekend and then get that beauty popped on.

Yup, if you're a fiscally challenged old skinflint like me then fleabay trolling becomes second nature. I picked up a pair of new (as in 2019) Mitas sportforce+ hoops for under £120.00 delivered. And no, they're not made of Bakelite, and yes, in the real world they perform at least as well as any other sport tourer tyre out there that I've ever had. Best vfm by far - why spend £300.00 on road tyres? Nope, you don't always get what you pay for

The tyres on my van were so old and hard that they'd stopped wearing... or gripping in the wet.
They were 16 years old and were just starting to crack on the side walls
I put full set on it last year btw.

The van is so much quieter on the motorways now. :)

I seem to spend an inordinate amount of dosh on those round black things.
So far this year :
4 Vredesteins for the Z4. £450
4 fronts and 2 rears for the van £450
2 fronts for the Yeti. £150
Pair of Michelin Power 5's for the MT07 £220

Hopefully that'll be it for a while..

KTM 790ADV - sold
KTM 790 Duke - sold
Honda CB300R - sold
Honda NC750X DCT - sold
Yamaha MT-07 Y-AMT - very modern
1981 Suzuki TS185ER - very much not modern 🙄

Treated myself to one of these a while back so am able to fully embrace tyre bargains and fit them myself, can also swap between bikes. Its not quite as easy the video suggests but takes no more than 15 minutes to fit and balance to a loose wheel. Happy to help out any fiscally challenged or interested parties fit their own tyres.
