Newbie looking for inspiration.

Just seeking some advice,
Im looking at cruisers, to use for travelling to work, which consists of a 150 mile trip, twice a week. Other then that general day to day.

Been considering harley davidson sportsters or yamaha xvs950 bolt

Anyone have any other opinions or options they might advise or suggest?

Indian scout bobber or maybe the ftr 1200.

Cruisers aren't my cup of tea really.... some are nice looking though.
If I were buying a bike to commute on it would just be something like 650 V-strom, but if it had to be a 'one bike for everything'.. I dunno.

You would definitely need to stop and fill up on the harley for sure I dont believe they will go 150 miles on a tank I could be wrong but harleys made for the uk market are not American made and the quality isn't the same

Not too fussed on having a midway stop, usually have a little stop when i drive.

Not picky in regards to harley or what not, noticing theyre a bit of a no no, but ive seen some of the japanese bikes. Just looking to see what cruisers people would say are best for a chilled but longer journey

Moderate, i can ride well and been on and off bikes since I was younger, but not invested in one before and i dont know the ins and outs of the cruisers out there. Main reason im here to be fair.

It's a shame you can go on test rides atm.

Personally if I was dipping a toe into that market I would be looking at a Japanese version. They will be easy to ride, handle ok and be reliable. Things you need for a commute me that distance.
I do know of a Guzzi California that's for sale, it's been sat in a garage for a year or so as the owner has new toys but was put away working.

What is the budget? That could well limit your options.

Hi, I really know sweet nothing but, a colleague was looking at buying a Harley, anyway, he spoke to my very good friend who builds/repairs bikes for a living. The advice was to have a look at an Indian as a friend thinks they are so much better, easier more reliable than a Harley. Long story short, the guy bought an Indian, absolutely loves it.

Buy what you like. If you want a Harley it'll be expensive and not particularly well made, but sometimes there are bigger forces at play like desire. Most of us ride bikes because of the way it makes us feel and that's entirely subjective. Objective purchases are budget and wallet friendly but probably won't scratch that bike itch.

I agree with the above sentiment. Buy with your heart, not your head. Biking is emotive, common sense should have minimal influence in your decision.
