Changing ZXR400 Sprockets For Better Acceleration

Post by ZXR400Lee »

Hey all

I'm currently running a 15-45, find that acceleration aint really as good as I want it, and not really bothered about the top end that much as rarely need to go above 110mph.

I know I need to have a bigger rear and a smaller front. What would be best to change it too? and where can I find them?

Thanks

Lee

change the front.....knock off 2 teeth.

bingo.....you will notice you change gear about a million times more......and your wrist will most likely hurt.
ive had mine about 5 months and after a few hours of twisties.....wrist hurts like a mofo.

shouldn't be a problem getting them.

Two teeth off the front is pretty severe, id suggest losing one.

On my 600 I went 3 up on the rear sprocket which made a huge difference to acceleration. I dont know what it would be like on the 400 though. Believe it or not GT Motorcycles in Plymouth (I know) got them cheaper than M&P or anyone else I could find on the net. I got a Renthal for about twenty quid, and it weighs about a third of the standard one.
