Wiscombe Park - NHCA Arnold Gimblett Hillclimb - 15th September

Post by Riviera Guy »

Tickets for the “all bike” NHCA Arnold Gimblett event on Sunday 15th of September have gone on sale today from the Wiscombe Park web site www.wiscombepark.co.uk/events

There is a long association with motor bikes at Wiscombe Park. In Colin Rolls book “50 years of Wiscombe Park” it is noted that in May 1961 George Brown demonstrated his 1000cc Vincent, known as “Nero”. This was possibly to celebrate the lengthening of the course from its original 850 yards to the current 1000 yards.

The first recorded “all bike” event was on the 14th September 1969, when 93 riders took part, including 24 sidecar outfits and three wheelers. This event was organised by Arnold and Christine Gimblett of the National Sprint Association (NSA).

Bikes continued to run at Wiscombe by invitation of various car clubs, until 1990 when the National Hill Climb Association ran their first event.

If you like your high-speed action on two and three wheels – no cars - this is the event for you!
