You are of course welcome along to any Southwestbikers rideout, however your bike must be in good mechanical order (we don’t want anything falling off of it including you), taxed and have a current MOT. You must have a valid motorcycle licence and current motor insurance. You are in charge of your motorcycle at all times and SWB will not accept any responsibility for actions you take or any accidents you may have. Always ride within your own capabilities and do not put others at risk. Remember, while you are on a Southwestbikers rideout you are representing the site and what it stands for.
Thank-you.

Friday 18th July

Post by ptolemyx »

Was going to be Thursday but Friday weather forecast is much better - perhaps - maybe

Tiverton, Morrisons petrol EX16 6SW
09.45 for 10.00

Stops at Greedy's, Torrington and Gemmas at Waytown near Combe Martin finishing at Moto velo, Crediton.

After our last ride  we all need one at a comfortable "making good progress" pace so this one will not be suitable for 125s, novice riders or those of a nervous disposition  That said, ace racerists can leave their knee sliders at home

Sorry Brian, can't do this one. Am pre-booked for gainful employ at the local crem' at midday :) . It'll help pay for the following.
Got home after Sunday's ride to find the sidestand hanging off with two of the three M10 fixing bolts missing and the third hanging in there by a thread - literally, one thread into the lower part of the crankcase is all it was in by .
Also, and while the old bus is 'resting' awaiting the requisite M10 1.25 metric fine cap screws X 3, the chain has, after nearly 30,000 miles (I think, it might be even more. The chain, like the bike was was neglected and half knackered when I bought it and I've done over 20k on it), finally shamed me into replacing it. So all in all I won't be Trumpeting anywhere for a day or several.
Have good one on Friday and I'll be out again soon-ish - and hopefully not having to put up with the frankly appalling lack of rider skills and resultant prang of a 'motorcyclist' that we all had to endure last Sunday.
Triumph Sprint ST 1050.

Sorry but BBC Weather and the Met Office have put me off.... high chance of heavy/stormy showers at different times across the route ☹️
Not in the mood for a wet one.

....chances of more dry than wet just increased with my withdrawal :))

Yep. Six of us didn't see a drop of rain on drying roads.
Unfortunately Alan had to call out the AA as MV wouldn't start on leaving Gemma's. Turned out to be his fuel was contaminated with diesel - worrying for us who also fuelled up at Morrison's in Tiverton. Apparently after calling the AA at about 13.00 they didn't get Alan home until 23.30 ffs. I'm sure he'll post about it soon.

That's not good about the fuel. AA recovery is taking the piss to take that long to get him home.

Was it red diesel? You know what these farmers are like.
