I'm Back..............To haunt you! Muuuaaaaaahahahahaha!

Did you miss me? :P

Well folks a lot has happened since I was last on here!
Approx 3-4weeks ago....it was a nice sunny day and we decided to go for a blat :P Was thoroughly enjoying the ride, you know blow them cobwebs out...going on the straight along dual carriageway got up to 120mph :P :P  When the bike started tank slapping, Dave managed to slow to 60mph when the front tyre blew out, what was to follow was so surreal! The bike done a nose dive, throwing Dave over the handlebars followed by me I was flung approx 20ft from Dave and the bike, I landed on my neck and spine.........(I have a crumbling spine) But just before I lost conciousness i thought(Cor thats a soft landing) then blacked out.
We both refused to go to hospital that day, because we didn't want to leave the bike....so we got the recovery man to take us home.

Wasn't til later that evening we started feeling real pain.....I think the shock was holding off the pain, so next day we did get checked out at hospital. The Doc in casualty was totally amazed that my spine wasn't broken  In fact I didn't get a single cut or bruise....But i did get a very swollen spine....well we did come off at least 60mph!
Dave was less fortunate, He completely broke his ankle, had to have an op to have 2 pins put in, on Friday he goes back to hospital for Xrays etc to see if everything is healing ok. If it is he'll have a full plaster on for 6-8 weeks, and is not allowed to put weight on his foot.
So I'm playing nurse and Dave trying out the latest edition of a zimmer frame  Cant use crutches cause he cant use arms to bear weight cause of Arthritis
Trouble is it has put Dave off biking, it's the first time in 40yrs of riding bike he has ever broken any bones!

That sounds like a very scary experience  , lucky you didn't come of worse.

Hope you both make a full recovery and are able to carry on riding.

I had a rear puncture once whilst 2 up on a dual carriage way, bike started to weave a little, gradually getting worse, managed to stop before anything drastic happened. Sounds like you weren't that lucky.

Yeah clunk we had a rear tyre blow once before and started tank slapping, then we used our body weight to keep bike upright, then managed to bring bike to safe halt......But this time it was a front tyre blow out and you totally lose control of handling of bike....was a good job we landed on a muddy verge and not in the road, As I wouldnt be talking to ya now  The insurance company has written off the bike, we are just waiting for an offer. Spose the impact must of bent the forks or the frame

Sounds like a bit of a nightmare doesn't it, but landing on your back/neck, its lucky you didn't break your back, hope you both make a speedy recovery though and that your mate doesn't get put off bikes for ever. :)
