As per our usual British summer, its looking like we may have some rain at some point over the weekend
I know we are all able to check weather updates on our phones etc, but at the moment there is some uncertainty as to whether this will be earlier in the day or later into the afternoon.
Given that riders will be coming from some distance to get to Lands End, and lets face it, no one wants a soggy ride now huh? I think the best thing is to call this at say 7pm tomorrow evening?
I hope that's ok with everyone, it would be a shame to postpone it but I have to consider peoples safety and much as we'd all love to go, common sense should prevail. ............................
If it's still on, then I'm in

- also, I have two riding pals, not currently SWB members, who are interested in joining us at Exeter for the full RTTB. Is this o.k?

Yes bringing more Pals is always good! That's quite often how we recruit new members

. Fingers crossed for an improving forecast!

Still saying rain between 04 am and 12 pm:
http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weat ... 1435449600" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Its not forecast as heavy as before, but still not great. Always difficult down here, weather is definitely fickle due to proximity to the coast and narrow county. It could just pass through or miss completely despite what the forecast says, .....maybe

...... and the met office site say "Heavy rain" at Penzance at 0600 hrs. Seems it'll be pretty damp all the way down don't it? Just been called out on a job so will check here again on return, around 2100 hrs.

Well what a day!
Swapped rear tyres so have one with some tread - yay

Went for a test ride, no tickover & spits and farts below 4k rpm - boo

Home & on to paddock stand to investigate. Crash, falls off stand - boo

Bikes fall saved by spare landrover tyres, only damage is scuff to bar end mirror - yay

Cause of fault is loose sensor which is also broken - boo

Part still listed, CMS can order one - yay

Cost of new sensor is ...... Wait for it ...... £285 +vat - major boo

Might be able to glue broken part back on - yay

Mother calls to say Fathers poorly & they can't look after the dogs tonite/tomorrow - boo
So, I'm afraid, I'm a no show now .......

Having just checked Met Office site, its now saying the rain is coming earlier, stopping at 8am ( brekky) then starting again at 9am until about 12 pm. So thats wet riding all the way around Cornwall until we stop for Breakfast then back on until you leave the county
Reality is this, if we cancel it will spit with a bit of rain for half an hour or so, if we go ahead it will Pee it down all morning?
Smiler and Kwak it's your call. I'm ok to go as I don't care about rain, its only the morning for me after all, but completely understand those of you who will be riding from the early, early hours until end of the day, don't want to sit getting wet and cold just for the hell of it.
I'm off to watch Moto2 and 3 re runs so can you give me a text after 7 to let me know your decision

.

Radical thought

.......
Why don't we leave Exeter around 9ish?
We would miss the rain

and get down to Penzance around 1ish (very rough estimate) AND we'd miss all the rain coming back. In fact, we may see some sun on return leg
There it is, it's out there!

Hi all....
I've been looking at the weather forecasts pretty much on an off all day and despite it having changed from yesterdays, I am in no doubt now that a good chunk of this ride would be wet....Penzance for 8 - 10 am is covered with raincloud
I have to consider everyone here, including distances and the time of day people are riding so..........
with a heavy heart I am going to postpone the RTTB
I really appreciate everyones enthusiasm for wanting to take part, and I tried to leave it until the very last minute to make the call, but hopefully we can get another date sorted and RTTB15 will still go ahead! Thanks for your patience xxx
Right.....as I have been glued to the weather apps all day, heres the positive news!!
I am going to do a run tomorrow but leaving mid morning from Taunton, forecast is clear from this side (its only the Cornish and a few Devonians getting a soaking - sorry Badger mate xx) so for anyone still wanting to get out for a while tomorrow I will do a route out to the Fleet Air Arm Museum for a cuppa+cake

As always, everyone welcome....this wont be a 'Friendly Ride' as such, but decent progress
Check the rideout section and add your names if interested....I'll be going no matter what!!

So it's a rain check (sorry!) on the RTTB then. Sensible call for those of who'd be sitting in water nearly all day, no fun in that; I'll be up for the recheduled one mind ............... Meanwhile, as I've took the time off, and I'm all ready for a Sunday out on the Fut', I'll be off to meet a couple of mates at Castle Combe's 'Summer Raceday'.
