Having organise many rides most of the time it is easy and even with big numbers you can use junction marks and drop off system to keep everybody going in the same direction. However considering the nation at the moment and the 6 person rule this would have not done you any favours to try and sort out and talk to so many people to explain what ever rules and routes ou were going to put in place. I would also agree a wise decision.
Under normal circumstances any ride or meet up I would publicise on the SWB Facebook page and also on a whatsapp broadcast but have not done and promotion work since we went into lock down and still wont until we know we don't have to worry about group numbers.
