GATSO A38
Moderator: Staff
i disagree (and i'm not a "nobber")Jon B wrote:But GATSO's on roadworks is where they should be, anybody who speeds through roadworks is a bit of a nobber
i appreciate that speed limits are the LAW, but i know my own limits with riding / driving -
that stretch on a38 only has a couple of hundred yards of actual "road works" but is limited to 40mph for miles.
with a clear view ahead with limited hazards i will probably exceed the allocated limt !!

Agree with Chris on this one. Why is it that whenever roadworks are up and running they only actually work on about 2 miles of the 5-8 miles of cones they put out. Sometimes you dont even see any workmen at all
Just another excuse to rake in money from motorists and bikers as far as I am concerned. I know exactly which part of Toady Blair I would like to stick one of those cones. Answers on a postcard to the 'Vote me in even though I continue to lie to you party' at Downing Street.

I wonder how the country/construction industry coped before GATSO's were introduced.Jon B wrote:But GATSO's on roadworks is where they should be, anybody who speeds through roadworks is a bit of a nobber
Its money making really. I agree that sometimes it seems they cone off 8 miles and only work on 1 mile, its rather pointless. Why not just cone off the bit they are working on? Then when thats done, cone off the next bit etc...
I just disagree with GATSO's all together me, unless in some heavily populated residential area (or nearby school), now traffic light camera's I can see a clear reason for and support them entirely.
But I'm going off topic (again)...

Sorry Jon, but you hardly ever see the buggers 'working' on site. How many roadworks have ridden/driven past and seen nothing but cones for miles? More than you ever see men working I am sure.Jon B wrote:GATSO's on the roadworks aren't so you don't crash into cones it's because there are people working on site.
And don;t mock my irrational thoughts, I think of something long, but my fingers get bored.
Cameras are money making devices and that is all they will EVER be. How else could Toady Blair and the wicked witch afford to go on holiday without this extra revenue?

Drove through these road works today.
There are a pair of Gatsos in the middle. But the other cameras I saw arn't Specs speed cameras with infrared they are CCTV cameras.
I was pleased to see no one was taking any notice of the speed limits.
Where necessary they slowed down to 30 and speeded up to about 50 when it was clear. It will probably piss of someone, but I'm please to see people driving carefully, not just mindlessly sticking to a speed limit whether its safe or not.
Funnily enough people ignoring signs pissed me off.
You know at the start were it says "When queuing use both lanes" Well the ?MIDDLE LANE MORONS? (you know the ones, do 70 and wont get over on the motorway even if the left lane is empty for bloody miles) as seems to be usual these days they all form up in a queue in the left lane coming up to road works. The queue started before the 800meter sign. Well I just did what the sign said. I used both lanes, mine was clear and I went straight to the front. Some of the ones I?d passed pulled out and blocked the lane. pregnant goldfishies
Bet this gets a few people going.

theres another GATSO on there now.- just at the start of the roadworks heading towards plymouth (ashburton area).
have noticed 2 days in a row police car parked in sliproad about to join a38 towards exeter at lee mill.
got some inside "intel" on cameras - they are just traffic watching the only thing that will get you are the GATSO's
